Potty talk? How childish.

I haven't posted here for about 2 years and I am unlikely to again. It seems to be a lot quieter here than it used to be as well, perhaps this forum is following Warseer in its slide into obscurity?.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.
-Leman Russ, Meditations on Imperial Command book XVI (AKA the RT era White Dwarf Commpendium).
Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Nah, Dakka still is a very active forum. The most active one in regards to wargaming, I'd wager. You gotta keep in mind that the moderators on Dakka aren't professional moderators, they do it in their free time and thus you have a wide range of really good and awfully terrible moderators / moderation issues. This does have reasons such as lax supervision and too vague rules, but after all, it's your decision whether you use the site or not. It's a private forum and if rules or any measures such as the filter make sense or not doesn't matter. It's their rules, you follow them. Don't question, follow. If you don't want to, feel free to leave the forum.

Actually, feel free to question if something isn't clear and who knows where that discussion will go, but yes, at the end of the day, this is a 'private' forum and there are rules that everyone agrees to follow when they sign up here.

Questioning why we do things the way we do is always acceptable. The answers may not always something you personally agree with, but we're always happy to discuss why things are the way they are.

Somewhat related...
The language filter function doesn't seem to work in quotes. It appears that, if someone quotes someone who wrote something that was changed by the filter in the original post, the quote returns to its original, as-typed form in the quoting post. Just FYI.
There's also a lot of creative portmanteaus that the filter doesn't catch. I mean, a lot of them... many of which are fairly standard-use in the English language on both sides of the big pond(s) at this point.
This is why I prefer to type "feth" rather than the English word it's replacing.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

The filter is just "plan B" so to speak. Posters are responsible for whatever they post. If you post something inappropriate, the mere existence of the filter won't keep you from getting dinged. OTOH, we can generally tell when something is unintentional and my practice is just to edit those slips and move on.

It doesn't filter out in the reply screen. When the message is actually posted, though, the filer kicks back in.

As stated, the filter is just a handy helper, not a catch-all for every possible inappropriate word.
