Kickstarter incoming!

John Austin I am currently, hurriedly, writing rules...

John Austin My understanding is that we're going small - lets just get a couple of new Mecha funded, and if we can get more then it's a bonus.

Weird WWII Miniatures Kickstarter

Hi, here at West Wind we are very excited to announce the upcoming launch of our new Kickstarter "Panzer Mech". Panzer Mech will focus on producing a new range of 3D designed and printed Weird WWII Mecha.

Backer Rewards: In addition to a great saving on the RRP of the models backers will have 1 to 3 mech pilot models added to their reward for FREE. On achieving our Objectives FREE miniatures will be added to the Mech Commander Pledge Level as Stretch Goal Rewards

Initial Goal; Jotun Panzer Mech armed with the 88mm KwkM46 Schwer Kanon and a 60mm Schwer Granatenwerfer.

If we are successful with our funding goals then additional models will be added to the campaign as follows;

  • Flammenwerfer version of the Jotun called the Flammmech "Logi"

  • British "Bulldog" Mech with twin Quick Fire 75mm automatic canons

  • American "Tecumesh" M4-MC a medium mech designed for mass production

  • Japanese type 72 MEKA “Akuma jū” Devil Gun

  • In addition to these superb new models we will be releasing as ADD ONs the following.

    Tesla Canon Red Claw Cerberus
    Templar Aquisitors Flesh Golem
    Oni combat monster "oni-ni-kanabō"
    USMC infantry squad J
    apanese infantry squad
    German Plasma Truppen

As an added bonus we will give our Kickstarter Backers access to our Weird WWII back catalogue at backer exclusive prices and some fantastic bundle deals.

To round things off we have a few surprises in store.

I hope this one is a big success, everything gets unlocked, and we get a proper 2nd Edition Rulebook out of it too!

Not a fan of that sculpt at all.

Could be a good ruleset to use my infinite number of DUST vehicles/walkers with though?

I'm not impressed with the gun carrying mech either. I prefer the British one that looks like a Dust Mech. I appreciate the innovation and understand that they do not want to look like a Dust knock off but believe they are more " Period" or realistic in the other design.

    Automatically Appended Next Post:
I would also like to see a second edition as well. I do believe they need to update their current models with better sculpts first.

I love the gun carrying mech!

I'll be in for one of each, except for the Japanese one.

Unless it is seriously mindblowingly awesome...

And yes, I agree that a LOT of their sculpts need serious 'updating' but given the volume of 'regular' WWII soldiers out there, I hope they concentrate on the Weird Stuff first.

And yes, SoTR 2E too, of course!

@Alpharius, yes there are plenty of regular WWII miniatures out there. SoTR the regular soldiers are armored. The exception are the Russian so you could use generic WWII troops.

I also use Artizan design troops. Sturm Battalion and Nacht Jager.

I will be in for 1 mech each as well. Might just change out the arms or use the gun and apply it directly to the shoulder.

Gun carrying mech looks silly, awkward and pointless to me, in the same way that the Space Wolves dread carrying an axe looks silly compared to "Weapon arm" dreads. Opinions, of course, and also hoping that they do something with the Rules at some stage.

I like the German one. It looks like someone ran a Titanfall mech through a dieselpunk filter. All the mechs we've seen so far are good though. I'm really curious about the design of the American one. It's the only one we haven't seen yet.

Funded! Stretch goals have been shuffled a bit. Flamethrower Jotun has been pushed back in favor of unlocking the British Bulldog and the American Sherman mechs. Add-ons are also available and are from the newer SOTR releases.

Just to note, this passed the £7k stretch goal, which means the British mech will be unlocked now. Andy Cooper also mentioned in the comments that they will be making German plasma troops, USMC riflemen, and a Japanese rifle squad, which he says will be properly Weird War with bodu armor and gas masks.

Jotun looks cool, and seems somewhat inspired by Titanfall. But I don't like how different it is from the other mech designs.

Based on some of the designs they showed during the SOTR 2nd edition Kickstarter, thd Jotun isn't so unique in terms of design. They'd shown concept art for American and Soviet mechs that had somwhat similar humanoid designs as well as a German mech with a walker style design. I'm curious if they will actually still use those designs.

    Update #4

    Feb 8 2017

    Dossier X-01

Hi everyone, great news. We are creating a PDF covering the rules for everything we unleash from the Kickstarter. These will be for our Weird WWII game, 'Secrets of the Third Reich'. This will be free to download for all Backers once we enter the fulfillment phase. After the kickstarter this will only be available to non backers as a paid download.

Kind of obvious that we'd need this, but nice to have confirmation!

Update five is up (and six, but that's just a minor correction about one of the add-ons) and the third stretch has been met. Three mechs are now unlocked with a second German one up next and a Soviet one after that. If someone can tell me how to post the whole update with the pictures, I'll post those as well.

Boom there goes the Sherman Mech! Project Teumseh is in the bag. Thats all the bases covered for the Mech Commander Level. We now have three different Mechs to choose from. Let's not stop there! Next up is the mighty Stug Mech based on the German assault guns of WWII. The Stug packs two formidable Pak 40 auto canons that will make easy meat out of most allied tanks and Mechs.

Bomber Bob is added to all Mech Commander Pledge Levels for FREE.

Next FREE stretch Goal - 'Austerner', a veteran of many campaigns, this battle scarred hero will be added to Mech Commander when we secure the Stug Objective.

In the distance I can see the silhouette of the mighty T-49 Mech, a Soviet Medium Mech famous for its heavy frontal Armour. Let's put this baby up against the Stug.

Also Added: New Unique Pledge 4 Red Claw Original artwork framed and signed.

Only way I know how is you have to do it piecemeal, right clicking on each pic, selecting the 'copy image location' option, paste it in a post here, highlight it, click on the button, rinse, repeat!

Laborious, but usually very much appreciated by all here!
