I gave my Battletech stuff and other games away before I got into 40K. I now regret doing that.

I quit GW twice now, and I am so glad I never gave anything away or sold it. I do get the itch to get back so I will always have it. I have the Battletech itch but just can't bother to collect again because I know what I had once, don't want to go through starting all over again. So lesson lernt and don't do that with my 40K or GW stuff now.

Got a buddy that keeps putting himself in bad spots and has to sell stuff off and he always regrets it a lot.

Me personally I'm thinking about selling my GK and nids, but I think I would really regret it so wont. But I just have so many models its overwhelming. Some small part of me hopes someone busts in and steals em then I have renters insurance pay me off so I can start buying new stuff If I could do it again though, I would do a squad or two at a time and buy nothing new until that one was painted.

I was getting out of 40k pre-6th and sold my Night Lords terminator army. Then my old group got into 40k again and I couldn't field my 30k all terminator all painted Night Lord army any more :(

I've sold/traded probably 9 or 10 40k and WHF armies. While sometimes I do miss my old beserker army or my empire army, I know I made the right choice. I don't often get to play games. I don't have time to dedicate to multiple armies. I just keep one army for 40k and one for WHF.

Yes and no. I do regret some, but don't regret others.

I've sold the following in the years I've played this game:

Imperial Fists
Orks (3 separate times)
Flesh Tearers
Hakanor's Reavers
Tau
Tyranids (probably my second biggest regret)
My Custom Chapter, because I needed rent/tuition money. Included in this one were the 2008 Games Day Captain and a lot of old RT era Marines. Probably my biggest regret.

I will admit I don't quite understand selling an army for rent or stuff. It doesn't really seem worth enough money to sell it for that purpose, surely it'd only buy you a week or two worth of rent, I think I'd sooner go in to debt for a couple of weeks than sell something that is worth so little $$$ wise but took a huge amount of time to put together and cost a lot of money in the first place.

I might consider selling my hobby car if I was hard up for cash, but that's because it's actually worth enough to live off the funds for a decent amount of time, giving me some breathing room to find another decent job.

I sold a few thousand points of Space Marines because I needed the money... my only regret was that I didn't get more money for them.
