Kroot shaper gets +1 A, +1 L and +2(!!!) wounds for 15pts. Just some food for thought.

Then again, kroot gain zero value out of this buff, as even after all that "power boost" its a 24 point model that loses a 1v1 against a mere tac marine in both shooting and CC (and tac marines are not exactly the epitome of efficiency in this game)

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

At least they pay something extra though.

Also, going off topic slightly, but 3 wounds is a bit weird on Kroot Shapers. I mean, there are HQs with fewer wounds than that.

They'd be balanced if they were 1W, imo. What I do dislike is that some of the exarchs are far better than others even though they're all bar one +10 points, like Avenger exarchs are rubbish compared to Scorpion or Hawk exarchs with their silly 4+ invul.

2 wounds should have been standard for all Sgt. equivalents. It gives value to weapons you never see anymore and makes you more invested in seeing if you're guy can survive a barrage of attacks.

oh damn 1 wound gone, can I make the next few? LoS? Maybe...

It's because Shapers really are supposed to be HQ choices, or were when the original Tau codex came out.

Ah, that makes more sense then.

They are priced like that because GW has a love affair with reducing point costs with every new edition.

I've heard that a 1500 point Space Marine list in 2nd edition would have 3 squads of Marines and a tank or something like that which would seem ridiculously small these days.

Back then even basic Aspect warriors were all more than 20pts apiece depending on aspect (Dark Reapers 67 each), when a Space Marine was 30 in comparison. All exarchs, while they were admittedly more like Autarchs, began at 50pts, before their aspect wargear was even added on, which could easily be 15-20pts more. A basic standard Dark Reaper exarch ran 100+pts!

Just food for thought.

Gotta keep people buying more models, I guess?

The extra wound has absolutely no justification, what are supposed to be fast but delicate as a race, have now become as tough as an ork nob.

Eldar exarchs should have a single wound, or every sergeant equivalent needs an extra wound, including nobs.

Exarch upgrades Toughness to 4 as well?

I really gotta read the new Eldar codex... after getting it.

Mmm, space elves...
