I definitely think you can make a competitive list with the drone factory. Toss in a Skynet formation so all those drones are BS3. You can squeeze those two formations plus a CAD with 2 Stormsurges in 1850. I'd call 160+ drones plus 2 Surges with marker support competitive.

Edit: I'm obviously favoring basic, no-frills units that are solely around to poop drones all game and maybe make a late-game objective dash. I don't think seekers are the way to go since they're reasonably expensive and require cutting your drone production in half to use effectively, but there's definitely a lot of merit to unloading 32 tank hunting missiles every other turn. Either way, i doubt adding fusion blasters is worthwhile. It's a ton of extra points when you're already packing a huge amount of tank-hunting heat that lets you stay at range.
