Make a New Years resolution to paint a 500 point force per week in the month of January.

This strategy really helped me burn thru my unpainted necrons

That seems tough, I paint too slowly for that! (~10 hours for 3 bikers). Targets are good but don't get burnt out by setting the bar too high.

We did that, but it was 500 points a month.

As well as that, we set a goal - at the end of each month, we'd get together and play using what we'd painted so far. 500 points in month 1, 1000 the following month, etc, culminating in a 3-way 2000 points a side game at Warhammer World on one of their 8' x 6' tables. We'd also occasionally get together and paint as a group. That helped too. As did painting in a room where my computer wasn't.

If it's the thought of painting an entire army that's daunting, then pack away everything except the models you're working on right now, and just focus on those.

You may want to look at how you are painting your models.

Maybe finding some painting techniques that are easy to do and look good might help you out. I have found when i try to overreach from my skill level, I can get frustrated and stop for a while. Perhaps you suffer from a similar thing?

Also, some people do better painting one full model and then going on to the next in a unit as it gives them the satisfaction of looking at a complete model. Others like to paint like an assembly line where they do all the base paint, then layer, then shade, etc. This can be more efficient, but can be dull since you are looking at a bunch of unfinished stuff for a long time.

Not sure how to make assembly more fun. I personally like gluing and all that. But cutting sprues can be very boring sometimes. For that I can only recommend beer.

That helped too. When I first painted my Cadians, they had a three-colour camo pattern on their fatigues, their boots, webbing and pouches were all painted differently, the body armour was different to the helmet and I painted all the piping on the tunics. Next time round, all the fatigues, tunic, webbing and pouches were one colour, all the armour another and the weapons a third. Much quicker, easier to do and looks just as good. Beter, in fact, since I've got twice as many painted as I used to.

I'v decided to try and figure out how to drybrush models, Then I'l try to drybrush my space wolves. I think I finaly found a nice looking colorscheme, But I dont know.. I found it on the paint chart that can in a recent white dwarf, Base coat in Mechanicus Standard Grey, Then wash with Nuln Oil and drybrush with Longbeard Grey. Dont know how it will look on a full model, But I will try it.

I also want to rebase all my space wolves to 32mm bases like the new space marines have. I know it isent needed, But after seeng a friends army with those bases, It looks so much better..

I know that my painting skill is extremely low so I tend to try and keep colorschemes simple with 3-5 colors per model including washes.

I play games, always gets me motivated. "God dammit, I still can't field these guys 'cause they're not painted, and these ones really need re-painted."

This helps a lot. For my first game of 40k in over a year last night, I had to play some unpainted stuff simply as it was all I had to hand (I'm away from most of my collection at the moment), to the point where I was literally scrambling to assemble my last Terminator for a squad minutes before the game, and it while I still had more painted stuff than 4 of the 5 other players there, and it was to a decent standard, I still wasn't pleased about it. So for next week's game, I've told myself that if I don't have the required 750 points painted, I'm just going with what I have and playing however many points down if need be.

So between now and next Friday, I need to paint up 4 more Tactical Marines, a Praetor and a Dreadnought. Not a ton, but enough that I could use the extra motivation to get through it.

The other thing that I find helps is displaying your recently painted models from your current project somewhere prominent, so you can see them and see the progress you're making as you add to the force. A pile of painted stuff is much better motivation than a pile of bare plastic and metal.

I get motivated by having absolutely no time at all in my life to do it, so getting an opportunity to paint some troopers is awesome enough motivation by itself
