In Mont'ka they make landing on Agrellan with huge landers with thousands of soldiers and gear. For once they didn't just land in Tau gunlines but set up a safe beach head. They actually (finally) learned from the last time not to try a full frontal assault landing helpless slow easy targets in front of Tau railgun batteries. As other have pointed out most standard procedures seem to call for it to land basically D-Day style, but this can change depending on the enemy and intelligence of the Army and Navy officers coordinating the battle.
