As I understand, the skin of orks naturally gets tougher and tougher as they grow larger, which happens as they continue to not get krumped. So with Ghazghkull being so large, and he's the most powerful warboss, it's reasonable to assume that his skin is so dense because of his size/age rather than because of any boons granted by the gods directly. The ork gods aren't really known to give blessings as far as I'm aware, though they will affect things physically from time to time. Such as teleporting a favored ork away from certain death, for example. I'm no ork scholar so I could be wrong, this is just my interpretation of it.

The chaos gods are known to regularly grant various blessings so the argument using Abbadon isn't quite the same.

I think in the fluff, Ork technology works because they think it does (like "red ones go faster" actually makes vehicles painted red go faster).

So, maybe Ghazzy really is all these things just because he believes he is.

A common misconception. Ork Technology isn't junk and the universe doesn't revolve around the Ork Psyche. All Orks are latent Psykers, and a large amount of Orks create a WAAAAGH field that just gives some of their more temperamental technology a bit of a nudge. The Ciphias Cain books depict Cain stealing Ork Battle Wagons and some people using Ork Shootas and despite the considerable recoil they did work, proving the theory Ork weapons work because the Ork thinks it works false.

However the Waaagh field is a real phenomenon, something the Weird Boyz tap into and Gargents make use of. Don't think of it as a magic ''It works because I think it does'' but rather see it as a Lubricant that allow some things to work better then they logically should.

Yeah, we have examples of humans using Ork technology just fine. It's just more unreliable when humans use it, and it's certainly not built ergonomically for human use.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

The fluff on Ork technology is a bit mixed with some authors/sources having it more in line with crude but operational while others have it being mostly junk that works because Orks believe it does. Sadly as 40K gets taken more "seriously" we less of the latter and more of the former which is a damn shame considering it some of the more endearing features of the Orks. The Red Ones go Faster is one of the most well known elements of Ork tech being affected by the Ork psychic field/belief which again gets down played because it rains on the super cereal 40k universe fantasy vibe .

It depends, Orks do stupid things. A group of Iron Warriors that hijacked an Ork fighta to escape Ork territory found out the air brakes got ripped out while in the air.

Stupid things or just as planned?

That may or may not be exactly what the Orks want you to think.

To be fair the designer\builder of the plane is unlikely to be the one who suffers the consequences of it crashing rather than landing so I doubt the meks would care much. May be seen as a good laugh!

So what? A meltagun can blow up a Leman Russ with one shot.

so?

so can a plasma gun, or a power axe, none of which insta gib marines, let alone warbosses, let alone the most powerful warboss.

Lemen russ's are not very high on the power list. Meltas are made to kill vehicles, so while a big hole in a tank might almost certainly one shot it, a big hole in a warboss is laughed off in both the fluff and in the crunch.

Humans using ork tech doesnt prove that at all..

Why would orks suddenly stop believing their own stuff works just because a 'umie picked it up?

All that proves is that the orks believe it works, so it works (for everyone)

That'd apply if it only worked while Orks were looking at it and thinking about it.

Ork tech functions. It functions BETTER for Orks.
