I'm trying to cut corners as far as I can to get things neat and playable. On average, three hours for a Leman Russ, and maybe 4 minutes for a guardsman. But to be clear, I am dipping and air brushing everything i can now, as I just want stuff done.

I use around 15 hours on these guys (perhaps more and its without the base) per model. Starting a blog soon with them and also adding my old projects in it.

Time well spent. I've got a harlequin army still in cellophane because I dread how long each one will take.

I've been working on trying to improve my quality rather than speed, so I'm averaging roughly 4-5 sessions of around 3-4hr each to get a model done. Trying new techniques or colors that I am not experienced with increases the time needed. Trying to keep the blends smooth increases the time needed.
This beckoner took around 12 hrs. All told, the skin on her chest was repainted three times, but the hue still isn't to my liking, the stockings were repainted once. There are still many deficiencies, but there's only so much work you can put into a single model (esp. a test case). I'll try and remedy the problems encountered here on her sister.
*sidenote: I think she needs eyebrows.

It would be interesting to read if you have the time, many thanks
I'm a decent painter so I know I'll be able to do it, but any tips on speeding up the process or pitfalls to be avoided will definitely be appreciated. That said, I know there is no getting away from the fact that it will take time.

It's been taking me probably 15 hours for a squad of 5. I'm doing Orks so I paint in batches do a lot of painting prior to assembly. I'm too OCD to leave unpainted parts and I don't like trying to squeeze a brush into small gaps.

So an Imperial Knight is about 8-9 hours, a Riptide sized MC is usually 3, a Bloodthirster 3, the one Hierophant I did recently was 10, a Ta' unar is about 8. Big models with airbrush arent so bad.
That said, my Shield Maiden bust I've done JUST the face on twice with the Painting Buddha tutorial? Probably 12 hours easily, and Ive gotta strip it and try yet again. Moral of the story, stuff I'm comfortable and good at I'm very quick, but newer more intricate concepts, not so much.
you painted an entire bloodthirster, the new one, in 3 hours.... thats my basecoat time

This is my thing. I like adding at least a little color to every specific "object" on a model, and don't like the idea of painting a model once it's glued together so I always paint each part individually before assembling it.
