Er, no. It was never a "generic upgrade".

The first FSE book had the following:

Note that XV104 Riptides in your army may select items from the Signature Systems of the Farsight Enclaves.

All they did was remove that last caveat.

One combo I saw a few times was a Riptide with ECPA, another with Seismic Fibrillator Node and Warscaper Drone, then a third with Mirrorcodex.

This is not true. Riptides could most definitely take sig sys in FE previously (but only those from FE, not TE). And ECPA was always a sig sys.

No, in the 6e Farsight Enclaves Supplement, the Earth Caste Pilot Array was a Signature System, Riptides had a special permission to take Signature Systems in the old Farsight Enclaves Supplement.

Hmmm interesting I never knew that I own the hard copy book. Granted I didn't actually start converting my existing forces to Enclaves until recently as of a few months ago and most of my experience is with TE not FSE.

What book is saying we can use both TE and FSE sig systems? My enhanced edition still says you use FSE instead of TE.

Any character in a Farsight Enclaves Detachment or Formation that may select Signature systems uses the Signature Systems of the Farsight Enclaves, at the points costs shown, instead of the signature systems from Codex: Tau Empire.

GW and the Black Libary f***d it up. the printed boock tell you this as well as other digital versions.
