So yesterday I finish work, the gym, eating, then I try to lay down and sleep. Before I nod off though, I decided to check my Kijiji page (a local trading site, can find almost everything on here). I have the page bookmarked to auto-search the term 'Warhammer', to only show results related to Warhammer Fantasy/40K - anything with the keyword in it.

I see an ad posted less than 2 minutes prior saying 'URGENT - FREE - WARHAMMER MODELS, FIRST TO RESPOND GETS IT ALL'.

I quickly text message the fellow and he says I won the race, but he lives about 1 hour away from me (at this point I was adamant he'd decline my request and wait for the next dummy). I tell him "I'll pay you to drive the models to me!", he says "No worries, happy to drive them to you". I'm quite happy at the moment. I don't really care what the items are, I can always use items for conversions/trade with friends/sell, etc.

So a couple of hours go by, and the guy messages me saying he is close by. He still hasn't given me any details, as he sounded as if he was in a rush and I'm not going to risk annoying him into reconsidering. I was expecting maybe a couple of regiments of something, or a squad or two from 40K or whatnot.

He arrives, and the guy unloads all THIS from his car:

My jaw absolutely dropped. Within one of the boxes there were all these:

Every case is LOADED to capacity with models. One case is chock FULL of a DKOK army!! The DKOK was claimed by a friend before I got home, he's always wanted one so I gave it to him lol. The other cases have an embarrassing amount of IG models and Catachan models. Tons of sentinels and weapons teams in particular. One of the boxes contains the last 4 editions of rulebooks from both game systems, and the codexes/army books for all the armies he gave me. A bunch of LotR crap too, but that will likely be tossed, can't give that stuff away, lol.

The other boxes contained a TON of models all carefully wrapped, it appears to be a very large Orcs & Goblins army (many brand new/on sprue still), a large Tomb Kings army, and an enormous - ENORMOUS Imperial Guard army:

One other box contained a whole lot of very high quality scenery. Some of it is official GW stuff (old OOP trees, modular hills, bunkers, etc), but the prettiest piece imo was this:

The Warhammer fortress. I've never owned one before since I'm not into Fantasy, but I may consider using the Tomb King army, or the O&G army now.

He also gave me his tool/hobby kit which contains many of the Citadel hobby tools/supplies, and a ton of basing material, mainly static grass and flock, some sand and tiny rocks.

UFO, not to sour your day or make you feel guilty, but giving all that stuff away, with that much of an "urgent" attitude, it was likely stolen. Probably from a store or something. Like display case stuff and such. There were thousands of dollars there (clearly, based on your comment of helping to pay for college), and if he was giving it away to get it gone, they were probably closing in on him. Still, you didn't do anything wrong. That was pretty awesome for you.

This might make some people jealous:
Over this past weekend, I did some house cleaning and made a donation to my FLGS of stuff they can add to the communal game pile or give away.
Consisted of one sealed copy of Sedition Wars, one sealed copy of Myth, one full set of Cthulhu Wars and all expansions, a Flames of War army, and three War Machine/Hordes armies.

Two of my best highlights were:

Best buddy gives me a big box of White Dwarf issues, at the bottom is a damn near mint paperback copy of Rogue Trader, signed by Rick Priestly. I was skeptical of that, but he says it was owned by another friend he used to have in college that got it signed at a Gamesday many years ago.

About a year later, that same old friend of my buddy's contacts him saying he wants to get rid of all of his 40k stuff- just come and take it away. My buddy and I split it up, and I ended up with a little over 2000pts of Space Wolves Thirteenth Company, and about 3000pts of 3rd edition Dark Eldar, totally free. Guy hated to paint, too, so he would just assemble and spray prime them the appropriate base color, so they are already primed for me.

Been sitting in a box for about four years now, I'm actually thinking of hitting some of the 13th company this spring. All I have actually bought for it was a box of Long Fangs.

A while ago I convinced a buddy to buy a SW army off craigslist and ship it to me. I think I spent about $200 on it, plus $50 for shipping. I pieced it out, kept probably $150 worth of minis for myself in pewter and finecast characters/models. Then sold the rest netting a $300 profit.

I had some friends who submitted applications to the jelly school that week.

My best buy was getting both Realms of Chaos books, plus 3rd edition Warhammer Siege (the one that covers fantasy and 40k) and a 2nd edition Blood Bowl supplement, for £4

Yes, in total. I got the realms of Chaos books for a quid each.

I suppose I should stop complaining, at least a little. I managed to get a near complete third edition 40K box, where everything was present and in great shape still on the sprue, but for some of the Marine bits. Cost me $50, so not an awesome deal, but maybe a sort of okay one, and has cooled off any of my desires for nostalgia for now.

What to do with those jungle trees......
