Well the change of job was great (still is) but I completely lost any motivation to paint. Trying to get back into it now with this month's painting challenge - BOOM!
I'm entering Sly Marbo as he fits the theme and means I only have to complete a single infantry size mini. I'm setting the bar very low to ease myself back in:
Apparently I'm still unable to drill holes that are straight or that line up, but I just about managed to save the mini on my second attempt.
He's now ready for washing before adding gravel for the base then priming - not sure how I am going to wash him without destroying the bandana though.
Here he is with some other random stuff awaiting the same treatment.

2 years since I last posted here, the shame continues.
In the meantime I have built a small Slaanesh Daemons army for my wife and painted a whole 2 of them. Painted a couple of Chaos Space Marines. Bought into Primaris marines with Dark Imperium, Aggressors and Guilliman. Oh and subscribed to Warhammer Conquest which is still all on sprue!
Wife bought me a Warhound Titan as my retirement present so I have had to revisit airbrushing which I had stopped previously due to all the grief. Don't want to mess up the Titan so have started practising with the airbrush on the Dark Imperium stuff. Was a bit hit or miss as I'm struggling with getting the thinning right/consistent. Decanted paint to dropper bottles for 2nd session today which went better. Initial basecoat is within my fortunately pretty low "acceptable parameters":

Airbrushed 1st highlight on the armour today. Basecoat was Macragge Blue, 1st highlight Calgar Blue.
Can't really see well enough (no matter what aids I use) to be as accurate as I'd like, but think I managed to at least create some contrast. A few mistakes (splodges), but overall I think they're okay.

Airbrushed final armour highlight of Fenrisian Grey. Doesn't show in the photos but IRL I can at least see some contrast.
Made a number of mistakes with the airbrushing, not least was completely obliterating the basecoat of Macragge Blue with the first highlight of Calgar Blue. I'm happy with how the colour scheme turned out, but Ultramarine it aint.
Oh well, onto the hairy brush stuff.

Minimal progress on the Ultramarines, have blocked in the black on all except Guilliman but that's about it apart from basecoat of Bugman's glow on the three that don't have helmets.
Just finished my World Eaters Exalted Champion for Para's Monthly Painting Challenge, so I've at least completed something:
Not decided on what to paint for December's challenge, but probably something small as I want to focus on the Ultramarines this month. Unfortunately there is too much paint on them to be suitable for the challenge. Still, it's not as if I'll struggle to find something.

Struggled to decide what to paint for December's challenge so went with a unit that already had one model painted, as it's bugging the completionist in me. CSM squad primed in Army Painter Chaotic Red:
If I actually finish these then I will carry on with the Ultramarines for the rest of the month...

This really is a blog of shame. 9 months in and the Berzerkers are still not finished. Has just crushed my motivation ploughing through such a large batch. I've found that I have to break it down into tiny steps to overcome my inertia to start. I'm on the highlighting the brass trim stage now and have cut the steps down into as small as right shoulder pad for each marine, then repeat for left shoulder pad when all the right ones are done. I'm currently about a quarter of the way through the first pass of shoulder pads, at least I was a month or so ago when I could last manage to pick up a brush.
Lessons learned - paint in small batches and break stages down into the smallest steps possible so I can see some progress in a reasonable time frame.
With that in mind I've entered the Dakka painting challenge this month with a single figure to see if I can get going again. Ashley J Williams:
Have finished the build today and need to leave overnight for green stuff to cure before priming:
