It was affordable before, to me anyway. Everyone's situation is different though. As others said, the recent drop isn't suddenly going to make FW affordable if you couldn't afford to blow $100-200 on plastic a week ago. You might save $25 on an order that would qualify for free shipping.
aww you so rich want a cookie lol.

Well that was rude my fellow Canadian. I thought we were better than this. He did say everyone's situations is different. He wasn't bragging at all. And like he said also if you were not going to buy before, buying now doesn't make much sense either.

On a real note you can find forgeworld on ebay alot cheaper.

And a lot of those "forge world" on eBay are recasts from China and Russia so buyer beware there.

To put it into tangible terms: I had been planning to buy a squad of dark furies and two squads of assault marines from FW; the change in conversion rate was enough that I was able to additionally get a set of Apothecaries without paying anymore than I would have for just those three squads. Cost came to $194.xx instead of the $229.xx the conversion rate dictated a month ago.

It's not a game changing savings but if you're buying a Titan or an army's worth you'll get a weapon or a unit for free relative to what you would have spent before.

You might want to take that up with your CC company.

The pound has dropped further today, it's now at 1.34, but still if the cost came to $194 today and $229 a month ago, that would imply the exchange rate a month ago was 1.58USD, it hasn't been 1.58USD since the middle of last year, and that was pretty much the high for last year. That's assuming you ordered it today, if you ordered it over the weekend when the pound was 1.37 that would imply the exchange rate to get $229 was 1.62, and it hasn't been that high since the middle of 2014.

So either you screwed up your maths somewhere or your CC company is rather elastic on the exchange rate they are giving you (operating closer to market now but charging you well above market before).

True enough. I wasn't thinking about it, but in the last month I started using my "travelers reward" credit card on my paypal account just to maintain use, one of the perks is the bank waves a fee it normally charges for foreign transactions.

Congrats. It's a fun build but do be careful with the wing fins they are extremely delicate and can snap at a slight breeze.

It's cheaper, for now at least, but not significantly cheaper. If you can't afford a kit at $100 you probably can't afford it at $90, or even $80. Maybe there's some kind of psychological effect with even a modest price decrease, but from a purely practical point of view I doubt it's going to change many buying habits.

So I guess if your boss gives you 20% wage decrease "no biggie. Don't affect me"

People are actually happy the the British Pound is doing so poorly so they can save a few bucks but the hard ship that it's going to cause a lot of people?

My we geeks and nerds are really selfish people.

Also I thought Forge World was affordable not because of the lowering of the Pound but because GW prices were so high and at FW prices now.

Then you realize that companies need money to survive and more people buying would be better than no one buying.

especially in times of hardship.

Strange duality :/

Woohoo........

In other words...it wont even cover the cost of your shipping? inb4 6 months passes and the brittish pound reaches a new high value.

Thanks for the advice, just placed the order. Should arrive soon.
For the sake of science, I saved 17 dollars buying with the current exchange rate. That covers shipping and some.

Yeah, because it's entirely reasonable to compare a 20% change in your total available financial resources to a 20% change in the price of a luxury item that is a small part of your overall budget.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Looks like the exchange rate has stabilised for now at around 1.33.

He didn't move any goal posts.

He stated if you can't afford a luxury item at $100, you probably can't afford it at $80 either.

tenva82 then made a false equivalence fallacy.

Then he repeated his statement using different words.

Learn what goal post fallacy means before you use it in a sentence.
