Yes. As are chain-bayonets, as well.

Only War also, I think, has the chain flail. Yea. Have fun with that one. The flavor text even basically calls out how ridiculous it is.
That sounds ridiculously awesome! just get one of your warbands guys drunk, give thim it and point him towards the enemy! Way better than those nutters in WHFB!

I suspect this is irony, but just in case anyone is wondering, the very first plastic box set of marines back in rogue trader had chain bayonets.

I'm sorry, but what are the stats for this chain-flail? That just sounds absurd and I must have this information.

It deals 1d10+4 damage and has two points of armor penetration - for reference, a lasgun deals 1d10+3 and flak armor is four points of protection against most attacks. It's also got a heck of a lot of bonuses to chance to crit, can't parry or be parried, and hits the wielder if he flubs his attack roll badly enough.
And now I want to roll up a psychotic Ministorum priest whose goal in life is to hit people with one.

Glorious. You totally should. Were I a DM I would give you one just for the sheer joy of watching you roll a 100.

That's the sort of story people game for. Not how you battled the mighty daemon high above a burning city, not how you single-handedly uncovered the plot to poison the governor...but how you went to hit one of the villain's goons with a frakkin' chain flail and severed everything below your left kneecap.
And now, of course, I'm going to find a way to shoehorn a corpse with a chain flail into my Only War game. Someone in the group would pick it up and try to use it...I have that feeling...

I dunno, I don't game for failure, my best moment was when I killed a building with a single hotshot round and made the GM cry a bit, not when my rifle randomly jammed

I don't think there is any art for the chainflail.
That's a shame.

I mean, I've got good memories of success, too - my favorite moment involved my Commissar, half-coherent from post-surgical drugs and wielding a lasgun one-handed because he'd run out of bolts and ordered the squad medic to amputate his other arm on suspicion of a contaminated bite, somehow managing to hit a mutant halfway across the map. The trick is to go for the moments that would make the table dissolve in helpless laughter and 'holy crap, that was awesome'.
Chain flails seem conducive to that.
Does anyone know if they existed before the Only War mention?
