Hope everyone had a nice Christmas/holiday period.

It was fairly quiet on the hobby front for me, almost finished the biker squad, they just a bit more nurglifying before I start into painting them. I opted for plasma guns over meltas as we play a lot of 3rd ed. and the ability to move and fire plasma weapons at max range is pretty valuable!

Haven't much time for the hobby over January, but I did find the time to polish off the obliterators (to table top quality anyway!) and build some havocs. I'll probably pick up some autocannon havocs in the future, but missile launchers are so fantastically diverse in their damage output. I think I'll be focusing on painting rather than building in the near future, but I had a wistful look through the 8th ed WHFB rulebook yesterday, so I might get derailed rebuilding some WoC

Thanks With the Oblits I was trying to hit a middle ground between the old models, which were tiny, and the current bulky, fleshy ones. Since they were pretty much cobbled together from bitz, I think they came out ok

Trying to figure out how I'm going to paint the Thousands Sons, I started in on a metallic blue colour but I'm not too happy with it. I'll probably revert to a heresy era colour scheme, since it's how I'm painting the other factions. Did get some progress done on Kharn, so I'll have some pics to show soon enough. In the meantime here's a snap of the DG taking on my friend's Ultramarines last weekend.

That's very flattering The Lord of Plagues is such a nice miniature, if I wasn't trying to blend in some older models the entire DG portion of the army probably would have been converted from it (..instead of about fifty percent! ).

The initial plan for this army was to flat out rebuild my old DG army. I've alluded to this in the thread, but I realise I've never actually said it, but after picking up some Thousand Sons kits and Kharn a few months ago, I'm leaning more towards a warband encompassing a few of the chaos aligned legions. It'll be more fun to paint and let me wage a one man Heresy against my loyalist friends, plus the rules for Thousand Sons are rad as fruark in both the 3rd ed. books I'll need a Mark of Khorne unit to field Kharn, so that's probably gonna be the next build.

Started painting up a test Thousand Son, opting for the pre-heresy scheme. It's not quite near tabletop quality but I'm happy with how it's turning out.

Added a Forgeworld shoulderpad to Kharn for dat dere Heresy era aesthetic. Also got rid of the huge chain on his left arm because it looks horrible imho. Kharn has 6+d3 attacks on the charge in 3rd ed, combined with always hitting on 2+ he makes mincemeat of most units. I love the Heresy era World Eaters scheme, but I'll probably opt for a bone white because I find white so painful to paint

Second unit of Thousand Sons and Ahriman built. I'll be rolling out them out for some games this weekend. Tempted to use the first 3rd ed. chaos codex because Thousand Sons had this rad as hell rule called All is Dust that meant shooting attacks below S5 couldn't harm them. Nasty, nasty stuff!
