Thanks for the link WellofEternity. I find the art lack luster a bit here. One maybe two good drawings. I think GW took a step back after hitting them out of the park lately with the drawings.

I am not saying they are horrible, they are good, but just seems like a step back.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Thank you for sharing! This is going to be the new inside cover of the next Hinterlands. I love it (and looks just like my Bright Wizard, Otto Cindermark, look at my signature!)

They talk about normal humans all the time in the novels and the newest one the two main characters is a free guild member and a witch hunter. It's just that this phase of the fluff is focusing on the new cities so of course we are going to see a lot more humans also what's interesting humans also live in the phoenix temple city as well in ghyran and honestly after reading the tome stormcast suck at fighting the cults.

City of secrets shows us that the stormcasts are warriors, not occupiers or city guard. They make a great hammer to smash the enemy to bits with but if you left them to rule the city chaos would sneak in and grow until they conduct another purge.

The mortal reals are kept in check by the bored gaurdsmen and out of their depth soldiers of the freeguild.

Oh I know I read the novel, both the tome and novel shows their strength and weakness. It's why sigmar made the order of ayzr witch hunters that carry his authority and the looks of things a witch hunters authority is on a similar level or equal to the stormcast themselves.

I haven't been too thrilled with the GW art the last several years, it all looks like fan art. It isn't made by the in house fine artists like karl kopinski and blanche and it just feels really cheesy. There just isn't enough going on in the images to make it interesting, lacks detail etc.

You can tell when an artist spends hours and hours and days on a piece compared to something slapped up in a computer program in a few hours. Granted it takes time to learn how to use these programs and get things done fast. But to be able to do fine art and physical art compared to digital to me is something far more special.

Just google karl kopinski warhammer, and you'll see what I mean. There just isn't any comparison. One is lush interesting and inspired whereas the new stuff is just commissioned for cheap, probably paying people/fans off deviantart or god knows where.

GW still has their in house artists doing the concepts for the model designs as evidenced by the recent Blood Bowl. Because they know they need that kind of talent. But then they pass the concepts to the CAD artists, and then the sculpts are made. Then the sculpt images are passed off to the commissioned artists who slap up art based on the models.

Indeed, that's a beautiful piece. The cloud background and stone footing gives me the impression he's overlooking a vast landscape beyond him.

I also really like that judicator In the other piece. After the replacement rumors I imagine him there yelling out "I'm not going to be replaced by a bunch of DnD ranger wanabees!"

I absolutely love these - reminds me of art of D&D 5e books with all the weapons. Highlights how cool the weapon design is for the Stormcast too. Thanks for updating this!

It's from the latest WD, which has a bit of a description. This is a port with the ships on the right leaving and the ones on the left coming in (their hulls caked in skylimpets). Their return has drawn and attack from a flying harkraken, one of many dangerous beasts attracted to aether-gold.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

No image has ever needed a soundtrack more than that one.

Strange. As soon as I scrolled over that image, Lamb of God's "Walk with Me in Hell" started playing. Odd thing is I didn't even have iTunes open.

Honestly that picture is pretty much a heavy metal album cover. A lot of the art in AOS is like that in my opinion.

GW definitely turned the dial from "Epic fantasy art" to "Bitchin' van mural" on that one.
