@Sgt Smudge: Those examples don't really work, I'll demonstrate in a moment why, but first I must also stress again that what matters is the Characters in the narrative defeating each other. Anyway;
Crimson Fists: Almost destroyed by an accident, despite accident still won, it has nothing to do with the Arch-Arsonist. Additionally Charadon and its leader is not Minor its the oldest Ork Empire in existence and very powerful.
Grukk: Again no characters so it doesn't matter. The moment Grukk came up against Special Characters from the Imperium; The Space Wolves, his Waaagh!!! lost.
Belial: I'm sorry but I don't think its really fair to say Ghazghkull, the strongest living Ork, beating a non-Chapter Master Space Marine is comparable to Eldrad, the greatest Eldar Seer and Leader alive, losing to a single Death Watch Captain.
Tycho: No characters so, again, it isn't comparable to this situation.
Tuska: Same as above.
I gotta stress that the important thing here is that a character who's major in the narrative, hyped a lot; Eldrad, is losing and has a track record of losing everything he's engaged with.
I mean...I can't take Eldrad seriously at all. Him or Ghazhgkull. There meant to be intimidating threats but they just fail almost constantly to achieve any meaningful changes.
EDIT: But who knows maybe things don't turn out as I fear. I can always hope.

Apparently the story for Eldrad is terrible. So it looks like your hope was a bad move Anemone.

Well that is a pity but I did say I expected as much. Perhaps this shall be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back then.

I'm taking the usual approach of "ignore it and replace with whatever is best". In this case that's nothing.

I'm honestly terrified to look on /tg/ for spoilers since I can only imagine the mass reveling that must be occurring there because a Xenos failed spectacularly.
Well at the very least they won't kill off the Craftworld Eldar. Do you know if Eldrad himself survives? I did very much like his new plastic miniature.

Don't know whether to be happy or sad, part of me wants him to die like Aun'va since he never achieves anything and if they're going to clean house on Xenos special characters I hope he and Ghazghkull are next.
But on the other hand his new Miniature is beautiful.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it a lot.

Eh, Eldrad beat Abaddon in melee, so he can't be that bad at combat.

I'd see the main strength of Eldrad, and the Eldar race generally, as being able to avoid conflict and make other factions fight instead and neutralise eachother. If we were going by that logic, the Eldar should rarely show up in battles, there should be far more focus on Ork/ IG or renegades/ IG fights, with Daemons, CSM and SM taking a step back from the spotlight.
This is how I've felt ever since I first started learning about Warhammer 40k. It's as though without some sort of a wacky theme they don't consider a faction to be interesting. Imperial Guard's always been an "also ran", which is the opposite of how it's supposed to work. The IG should be the actual stars of Warhammer 40k, not the Space Marines. That's what happens when people like Space Marines more, GW can't help themselves.
