Agreeing with gobert, you seem to be making short work of minis with contrast, with really nice results. A bit of pooling here and there, and some areas might benefit from additional highlights, but as quick tabletop standard paintjobs they're beautiful. I'm especially impressed with the black Heldenhammer armor.

Everything I am painting at the moment is all contrast.

Only metal is normal paints and often i use contrast over them or texture paints on the base.

I was lucky for Xmas and my 40th Birthday to receive quite a few boxes of models increasing the back log but I am hoping to keep up a decent painting pace this year.

Having spent nearly all of January preparing and assembling models I did manage to finish my first Warcry Warband - The Unmade. As has become the norm for me all contrast painted except for the metal.

Next up a random lone Stormcast Liberator and a unit of Phoenix Guard.

Cool looking unmade, those red masks are pretty disturbing. They look great especially so given the 2 steps! Keep up the fight against the pile!

Anvil of Heldenhammer Liberator finished.

Test model for my Phoenix Guard also finished not really happy with the cloak and not sure green gems look right and will try red on the next model.

I think I agree, red gems would look better than green. If your armour was silver, I might even have said orange to match the flames on the cloak.

Red or green gems I am not sure.

At the moment I think I favour the red gems. Both painted using GW Technical Paint.

I think red is the way to go, they "pop" more than the green.

Thanks,

Definitely the red, but I think they’d look better as a darker red. Not sure if that’s possible with the technical paints though. The other alternative might be to make the gold lighter, maybe silver highlights?

Completed Sisters of the Thorn battle ready using contrast.

Also completed a War Hydra battle ready using contrast. I was going to stick to just using contrast only however on a bigger model like this it really needed a quick dry brush over the top to give it some depth. You can see before and after dry brushing pics below.

The terminators and 6(?) headed dragon look great! Neat work with the Contrast seems to have gotten them looking good pretty quickly

Hey Gobert thanks.

Contrast has been great for helping me to work through an enormous backlog of miniatures, and get something painted in my cabinets which I would not be ashamed of putting on the table.

I have limited time to paint so the speed of contrast really helps, though I have found on large pieces dry brushing is needed to give it depth.

Hey guys thanks for the comments I am certainly getting through the backlog and one day I hope to go back and really improve the models but for now with the enormous pile of grey plastic I have just getting them to a point where I am not embarrassed to put them on the table will have to do.

I have always loved the Thokt Necron scheme and wanted to find a way to paint them quickly with contrast.

I recently received a new mat and terrain from Gamemat Eu which I have to say is outstanding.

That terrain really is awesome! I might have to check them out. It looks like you’ve been busy making progress on your Eldar and Necrons since last I looked. It looks like you’ve got plenty to be getting on with too by the looks of your cabinets!

I really like your WH hammer dudes in black and red; I think it's better than the default gold scheme for sure.

You seem to have good brush control in your highlights btw.

Jain Zar looks really cool, but I love the little fella in the pic before. Those old sculpts have real charm to them and your paintjob is spot on.

Thanks all. There is no edge highlighting just contrast paints, metallics, shades and technical paints.

The only highlighting done was dry brushing on terrain and the War Hydra.

The gamemat.eu terrain and battlemats are great very well packed and good customer service.

I do like the old sculpts but they are not as easy to paint with contrast paints as the detail has significantly less depth.
