If you (ZebioLizard2) read my entire post you would see that I included several sources of inspiration for
GW which included Tolkien, I also stated that Tolkien has influenced all of Fantasy, I assume that you would agree that D&D should be included as a part of 'all of Fantasy'. Sadly I forgot to include Moorcock in my list, Moorcock arguably had a more significant impact on the foundation on
GW than Tolkien.
Tolkien did not invent the term Hobbit, but he did invent what we think of when we think of Hobbits today. Hobbits sits right next to Hobgoblins in the Denham Tracts (old folklore stuff), Hob = small, bit = ?.
For more check out the Elder Edda, old Viking stuff Thorin Eikinskaldi and Gandalfr go on an adventure with a party of Dwarves (without a Hobbit though).
So where should the credit of inspiration go?
