Magnets. Just did 30 assault marines for my HH Blood Angels. Not too bad if you have the right tools and a good process.

I either buy more models or put magnets on, although I have amputated a couple of models before. I find that for something like infantry it's just not really worth the trouble to magnetize. Odds are you will need more models anyway as your collection grows. Magnets are good for the larger, more expensive kits, though. First model I ever magnetized was a Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer. Considering that it is a $65 kit (in US dollars), its definitely worth it to magnetize, and it has paid off for me as I've run both variants multiple times. I've also magnetized many of my larger Tau models (like Crisis suits, my Riptide, etc.), as they have a number of options and are not cheap kits. YMMV depending on your army.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Like a lot of other people have said: magnets are too small for infantry, so if I need a new model, I go find it and buy it.

Tanks and larger kits get magnets if I can be bothered.

If all else fails, tank X has gun Y. Or HQ McManyOptions has A, B, C, and D because that model is clearly HQ McManyOptions but with E and F and maybe something not in the codex anymore.

The K&J Magnetics 1/8 inch disc magnets (D201) are actually well sized for arm-shoulder joins

1/8" may work for some heftier infantry models, but I would far prefer 1/16" since most of my Eldar models have some pretty skinny arms. And that is a bit small for me; what work I have done with magnets that small is fiddly and migraine inducing.

And, yes, I get off pretty easy since Eldar have few options (going to pick up Corsairs soon though, and the number of options they have kind of hurts to look at). The SO's Blood Angels are all glued together, on the other hand. We have magnets for the Angels, but I am having problems even recalling any BA models that are magnetized. Oh, the Imperial Knight... I think that's it.

The 1.5mm are 1/16", and I have managed to fit them into any model I've tried.
Eldar are fiddly, but 1/16 is strong enough to hold the arms up, if not outstretched.
I've used hundreds of these:

Ok. I might have to consider that, but I don't really intend to use that many of the options on the Corsairs. And with how cheap extra DE bits and troop boxes are, I will have plenty of bodies to build all the options I want.
