Tonight I had to borrow my dad's (brand new!) van to run an errand and it was the first time I've driven it in the dark. On the way back, I left the handbrake on. Even though the warning light was bleeping I didn't realise what the problem was until I stopped at the third set of taffic lights. I'd say I drove about 7 miles on surface streets with the handbrake on. My dad isn't worried about it but I am. I know I must have done some damage to it but would it be serious?

F.Y.I, I feel like an absolute moron for doing this.

You are not a moron. Everybody has done it. It's just something that comes with driving. Over the course of a lifetime of driving the brain farts are inevitable.

Good news is that your parking brake is the rear brake on DS of veh. Your front brakes do most of the work

Thanks for the reponces everyone. It's been a while and there doesn't seem to be any ill effects so everything must be alright!

I'm actually more worried about my own car now; how much it's going to cost to fix and the battery going flat whilst she's laid up on the drive.
