Though I may bought all these from Forgeworld... Maybe you can enlighten me in what the superior lists are?

Well you have the Siege Regiment, which is always Artillery, All the Time
And the Assault Brigade, where you can have Infinite Guardsmen

The Siege regiment List allows you to take A LOT or Artillery, as everything is in squadrons but its designed for camping at your board edge
The Assault Brigade is a faster List that focuses on stuff getting your dudes around the table such as the Hades Breaching Drill (and as said earlier, you can force the opponent to put an extra objective in his deployment zone, and if you do, for every unit in a Platoon Wiped out, they go into Ongoing Reserves)

Then there is the Death Rider list (All Cavalry) and the List where you can Take Gorgon Superheavies as Dedicated Transports

Does the artillery formation give special rules?

As is I'm using the new formation that lets you give tanks orders from a ccs!

And I'm using Forgeworld manticore.

Its an alternate list and FoC, NOT a Formation

So taking the formation I am, gives me more of an advantage, because I can order manticores ignore cover, or give split fire to wyverns lol

I can give Ignores Cover to Medusa's, Basilisks AND Colossus Siege Bombards, Because they're not Tanks, but artillery carridges
IN A STANDARD FOC
3 Basilisks/ Medusa's > 1 Manticore

This isn't as useful as you'd think, if you're facing Marines, they get their armor saves vs the Manticore shot anyway, Manticore are barrage weapon and they already ignore cover to an extent. I prefer having lots of cheap Earthshakers, personally.

I don't think you're allowed to take those on normal manticores from the IG dex.

Right, I forgot the changes in the most recent Imperial Armour. If your opponents are cool with you using it with a formation, I guess it is better.
