when i said be relistic i meant in contex to the game, obviously if i ment be relistic in the real sence than yeah we should play connect four. what i was saying was that in the game universe lets be relistic. its like if somebody said space marines can fly without jump packs i would say be re;listic in the game sence. be relistic they cant flly without jump packs but then all it takes is a smartarse to say "be relistic" we play with toys its not realistic is it.

silly things like that would seriously put you off balance. i could agree with one serco arm like the old tech marines used to have but not a full harness,,
So you think it would be easier to balance a pack with one huge mechanical arm on one side than to balance 4 arms split evenly on both sides? How strange...

no i was saying that on arm would not be as heavy as 4, and the 1 arm would be for minor lifting and fixing. you really have to be careful how you put thing on these post otherwise people try to eat you.

an to be more clear when i talked about balance i was talking of balancing on a bike. 1 servo arm would be easiar than 4 due to its lighness.

Two comments
1. Why is anyone listening to anything Pete Haines said? Its that Pete Haines guys, he made no sense even when he was permitted to spout canon. Just be glad he isnt around to do any more damage.
2. Why put a techmarine on a bike anyway? There are better assault units and you will not be able to make use of servitors.

Modelling it isnt really a problem. Cyber up the techpriest by replacing the lower half of his body with a tracked unit or buggy. What could express your devotion to the Machine God better than becoming half vehicle.

To orlanth it has nothing to do with the best character on a bike, its fluff. I built my Salamanders army on fluff. It might not win tournaments but it has given every one I have faced a run for their money and come out on top. At the same time remaining true to Salamander fluff. Anyone on this site with a good head on their shoulders could come up with a list that maximises all marine strengths and eliminates all weaknesses but whats the fun in that. All marine armies would be the same. When I designed my Salamanders army I said no Assault Cannons, no plasma (save the techmarine) no lascannons and no heavy bolters. Its all melta (multi), flamers (heavy), missile launchers. Try eliminating all the things that make marines worth while. It will make you a better player.

i have to agree with donkeycannon. if you play a marine army by its fluff its more enjoyable. i always play like that. with my khorne army sure i could take 3 defilers but it did not really match what khornes about so i took lots of bezerkers , bloodletters, bloodthirster and demon prince. sure i got my *donkey*handed to me a few times but i won also. it was a better feeling. if i wanted ordanance i would have taken iron warriors instead as that matches there fluff. but i wanted close combat.

As was I. Have you ever tried riding a bike with something heavy on just one side? The weight isn't the problem, if it's centered, particularly on a bike as beefy as the Marine bikes. It's having some great gangly thing hanging off to the side that throws your balance.

Well this is 40k and I am sure they could find a way to balance a bike. Besides with 2 arms on each side it should balance itself. This thread should be shut down.

it would balance it self with arms either side but having ridden bikes for the last 10 yrs i can tell you it would not be very manourable and if an arm gets cought on something, kiss your *donkey*goodbye.

niether are you so your arguments abit invalid. apart from that have you ridden a motorbike with to much weight on, i guess not so how would you know?/ whereas i used to do deliveries on them. Also like you said " i am sure they can find a way to balance a bike" in ans to tht i am sure they could make the bike fly ans transform into a robot as well. and then turn into a house and boat. Why not they can do everything. reality does not come into it obviously as they can balance so they can do everything. its not far fetched, what is far fetched is when somebody claims that teck marines can balance and that its practical to ride a bike with a full servo harness. well if thats possible than anything is. it is the future right? or am i being a bit silly. but then why not who is to say what is possible and whats not.
