In a little over 3 years the 90s will be 30 years ago. Terrifying.

I've bought maybe 3 issues so far, but barely read them. One (the launch issue) I loaned to a friend months ago as he could make use of the painting guides, and I'd only skim read it. Haven't asked for it back yet.

The second one (genestealer cult) I skim read, then forgot about.

And I've just bought the current blood bowl issue this week, but not got round to reading.

I suppose its because I just don't play gw games very often these days. I play lotr the most, but white dwarf is notoriously poor in content for the sbg. Im more likely to read the latest issue I guess, because a friend in my gaming club intends to buy blood bowl to get a league going in our club.

I would devour a lord of the rings focused issue, but then again, I've got the biannual community written SBG magazine for that, and its an order of magnitude better content wise than anything
White dwarf does these days.

If anything, I'm just buying white dwarf on a nostalgia motivated impulse purchase whenever I pass it on the shelves in tescos.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
To be honest I think the real future of GW magazines lies in community written magazines, at least for the SBG. Hell, I think GW should just hire Tom Harrison and Damian O'Byrne (the SBG Magazine team) and make their magazine a semi official GW production, similar to De Agostini and Battle Games in Middle Earth magazine back in the day.

The late delivery thing is weird. I live in Japan so I was expecting it to turn up late. Instead I have got every issue so far on the Thursday before release. If they can get it from the UK to Japan on time every month it must be a problem with each country's individual postal service.
Liking the magazine so far. My only real complaint is that each army of the month takes up a little too much space, which could be better used for something else.

Really? I liked the Armiy of the Month, articles though the Eldar were a bit meh. Maybe a page or two, too long but those could be saved somewhere else, e.g. by scrapping their ridiculous BL advert, err, "upcoming" section, rhe shovelware games part and the model of the month or wth that's called - unless it goes way more in-depth, with sketches, WIP shots, the original designer being interviewed etc..

The best part each month might be the Armies on Parade section. Brilliant work on all armies shown so far, I'm jealous *. Those easily deserve another page each. The terrain articles are mouth-watering as well, but not very achievable goals.

Sadly batreps are lackluster IMO, with the September onr being the best laid out one overall, but horribly balanced. Maybe the original writing is clearer, but the German turn summaries feel cramped and not very well done, with the pics also leaving something to be desired when it comes to presenting the battle in a structured way, I feel. I think the 40k one had the best X does Y summary in those boxes, but I found it boring and don't really remember it. BB one was light on the actual things in the game, like blocksl results rolled, how long the fans rioted, the modifiers on important rolls ...I know you can't fully capture the feeling of "Oh man I need a 5 to passright after my Black Or...dies blocking a halfling. Great", the format felt to much like a story told to people who have yet to read the rules instead of even an introsuctionary game for the most part. As a whole they still need improvement there before WD can really be GOOD again.

*The Khorne army this month made me look for Angron Red (yeah, can I get that outside a FW order?) and/or Clear Red from Tamya right away (and turn a Blood Warrior into a Berzerker using Tartaros lower legs and Termi pads to honour the Blood God) Haven't got either yet, is there much of a difference in the result? Clear Red at least is available on ebay. The orange Skaven made me want to do some AdMech stuff like that.

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

The Pilgrym was a seven month collaborative project undertaken by friends from around the world. These beautifully detailed miniatures and 4×4 foot gaming board all embrace John Blanche's unique painting style, carry the touch of their individual creators, yet also pull into one cohesive display together.

On show: December 3rd – February 26th inclusive — at Games Workshop: Warhammer World.

We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
