I currently use a full sized collapsable ping pong table because it creates a 8x5 table space. Which means with a 6x4 mat in the middle we have 6 inches along each long edge and 1 foot on each short edge to place books, dice, dead models, and other materials. I would love to see a table of similar design. It's much better when the one table can support all the game materials.

You have a link to that one?

In the mean time, maybe a 4'x4' could be a convenient solution.
Stick two of them together and you've got your play space + room for extra stuff.

It's not the one I have but it is very similar.

And with only 1 half you have a 5x4.

Damn, just short of perfect. Still alright, I guess (though that's a lot of excess space).
I wonder if there's a market for portable 4'x4' tables?
Personally, I'd love to find a foldable 3'x4' (going down to 1.5'x4' when folded). Two of something like that would solve all my convenient gaming table needs.

Why would you want the table to be the exact size of the battle mat? Again, where do you put your books? dice? dead models? Having some extra space on the edges is the best.

Portability.
The two 4'x4' solution would work well for extra space on the ends, but granted the 3'x4' might work better as a 3'x4½' or even 3'x5' (3' being the optimal width for me so I can fold it down to just a foot and a half).

It is a quite nice deal, but I agree with the others, it would be nice with a 6" extra edge space around it for putting stuff on

you can check some comments from one owner of the table under this video in comments:

also you can check the video review by Ash Barker - Guerrilla Miniature Games here

to be honest people are very happy with this table in general. it can be folded into small carry case, you can take it with your car or just put it under the bed
