Epic posts! Thanks so much, Shinros. Happy new year to you as well!
calls upon his repertoire of mutating magic to warp their flesh, all in utter silence, save the deep rumble of Archaon's cruel laughter.
I think this is a "I have no mouth but I must scream" shout-out.
(I've noticed quite a few subtle ones throughout the battletomes like the Seraphon one mentioning "piercing the heavens")

No problem I am going to start the new year with the disciples of tzeentch tome considering I am a slaanesh and tzeentch fan I am excited since those two are my favourite aspects of chaos. Perhaps we may get some answers on slaanesh? Since if I recall correctly it was tzeentch that got slaanesh captured by the Aelf gods and in a short story for some reason a tzeentch champion was trying to help a slaanesh warband find slaanesh.

I feel like we might get answers about Slaanesh being missing this year at least. If they are going to be the Aelf factions, then they have to touch on it.

Haha, not just you. It'll be interesting to see how that's further explored in future novels.
I imagine alot of people owe them favors after all the smuggling and pirating they did for Azyrheim during the age of chaos.
Anyway, thanks so very much for your novel review! ( and for keeping it spoiler free)
Loved everything I just read. The old world "races don't get along" thing always bugged me as well with humans and elves. It's never really explained why they didn't like eachother and humans had such antagonistic views on a race that only helped them. (There was mentions of human mixing up dark elves and high elves but the entire Empire?)
The nobility part was interesting too. They certainly seem corrupt but it remains to be seen if they're Old World corrupt with nobles in Talabheim letting entire sections of the city fall to plague and chaos as long as it didn't affect them.
Nice mix of high and low fantasy like you said. The docks brought to mind the Sunless Sea game where one minute you're fighting a pirate ship and the next you're bargaining the souls of your crew to a veiled horror for extra loot.
Can't wait to get this book!

No problem.
Yeah about the half naked bit I went over it again and it noted figures picking up the half eaten food from nobles. So it could of been either gender.
Also you are correct they trade in favors and such and they are pretty much the aelf mafia I am also quite interested in Khaine as well because they mention him in vain like a normal god so I can't wait for GW to get to the meat and bones of aelf fluff. Also witch elves are their own faction in the grand alliance order tome so I wonder what khaine is in relation to Malerion and Tyrion perhaps Khaine might be Tyrion's dark side?

So I was under the impression that a soul pod was a massive thing from which multiple sylvaneth were born. I hadn't made the connection between that and the branchwych harvesting lamentiri.
What's the difference between a lamentiri, the small glowy component on sylvaneth models that branchwyches harvest, and the epic large magic plants described as soul pods? How are they related?

The sylvaneth post was made a long time ago with recent information I recall Lamentiri was in the sylvaneth novel these Lamentiri are planted in the soul pod area or in them now as the battletome said soul pods they come in all shapes and sizes and then new sylvaneth pop out of them when they are replanted.
Gotta make a slight edit thanks for bringing that up.

Where is this summary? Where is the spoiler summary as well if there is one. Out of work, not many hiring right now, so can't buy anything at the moment so wouldn't mind reading a spoiler as well.

Decided to put Josh Reynolds stuff up as well since I feel it's relevant and Death is lacking in terms of fluff. Why nagash keeps mannfred around, how the mortals of shyish worship nagash and how they view vampires in comparison to other realms. What's interesting you could base your army background similar to the Dunmer from elder scrolls on how they handle their dead.

Another lore guru by the name of Lord Kragan gave me permission to add this post to the lore thread. I think it's a wonderful summary of the general timeline of the AOS setting from the end of end times up to now. Please throw a few likes to his lore videos as well since he covers the campaign books as well.
Even if the audio is quite spotty the lore information is pretty awesome I recommend giving the videos a watch.

Yeah so I got the new warhammer quest the fluff book is pretty great also it reveals the things necessary to wake up slaanesh, plus the information does lend to a good theory on "how" Tyrion, Malerion and teclis captured slaanesh. I will make a post Soon TM.
Also how the nobles act in city of secrets and the importance of blood line purity etc I think is going to be a main stay in AOS considering the description of nobles in the fluff book.
How the races live literally reminds me of elder scrolls in a good way. Automatically Appended Next Post:
Right I am liking this fluff book already the Cogsmith calls the Lord castellant a "boy"(they are friends) for daring to even consider that something built by a Duardin/dwarf would topple and collapse with time. The structure they are examining is the Bellows tower I shall explain in the warhammer quest post when I do it.
Coalbeard pointed at the ruined building. "These are bellow - towers, they were built by duardin hands, boy. thousands of em, all across the city. Vent the gas that builds up bellow ground, disperse the heat. They're built to last.
Avrios: Buildings fall, my friend. Nothing, even your fine work, lasts forever.
Coalbeard snorted in frustration
Coalbeard: Yeh want to let me finish, boy? Think I'd take you from yer duties if there wasn't a darned good reason?
Arvios could not help but smile. there were scant few mortals in the realms who would refer to a stormcast eternal as "boy" to their face in so flippant a manner. That curmudgeonly disregard for convention was one of the things he liked most about the irascible engineer.
Dwarfs/Duardin still don't take such talk from anyone. xD
Yeah it does seem instead of releasing a short novel for this they put the novel in the guidebook.
Extract 2
"Yeh're in a lot of trouble son; said Coalbbeard, stepping forwards and lifting the man's head with his calloused fingers. "For the moment we are simply talking about the theft of valuable materials from your employer; said Sunhelm(Lord castellant Arvios)
(There is a Aelf loremaster with them his name is Alnaryn. He came from hammerhal ghyra investigating, because in hammerhal ghyra food is being poisoned, tree's dying and disease rampant and the green wizards don't know the source. The eldritch council sent him instead of sending a team of swordmasters since it might tip off the people causing the problems. He has been following Arvios and coalbeard for a bit since it's highly likely the problems are linked. He caught the suspect and bought him back to the alchemist workshop together with the group to be interrogated)
"But given the evidence linking this substance to the destruction of a part of the city's infrastructure, there is a case for you to be charged with high treason. You know the punishment for treason, do you not?"
What little blood remained in Mertain's face drained away. Every citizen of Hammerhal knew the punishment. Traitors and heretics were cast from the Bridge of Penitents, in the shadow of the great cathedral of sigmar at the heart of the city, to be swept up in the river of molten stone that flowed beneath its soaring arches.
(I imagine the order of ayzr(witch hunters) uses the bridge of Penitents a lot )
"Please; he pleaded. "Please I did not know! You have to believe me!".
Ok reading the fluff book reminds me of city of secrets in a lot of ways it's a fun read IMO.
