I was just mentioning on the other thread (about new legions) that until I stopped playing I had been using 3 or 4 MoK termis + Abaddon in a dreadclaw very effectively.
-Drop in the dreadclaw in T1 in a safe area
-Turbo boost into the enemies face
-Jink when shot at (if running Be'lakor easy to get a 2+ jink)
-If still alive T2, move 6", unload, assault (1 or 2 targets if you want to split Abaddon off)
-If dreadclaw shot down, same as above minus any termis also lost to opponents shooting.

Now with The Bringers of Death formation, i'll be able to do this with out the cultist troop tax to ally them in plus my termis get Endless Hatred, +1 ws and bs and Abaddon gets to reroll a LoS if he want's.
A dreadclaw makes termis and Abaddon awesome!

Yes and no? The bringers of despair is now a formation, so you can't just upgrade a random unit of terminators. Which means in order to get a claw you need to buy a CAD with an HQ and 2 troops.
Technically it's more expensive than before since that HQ could be ababbon but now he must be bought with the formation so you need a second HQ.
So you get the upgrade for free, but it comes at a steep cost.

Actually you can. IA13 gives permission for any unit of Chaos Terminators to take a Dreadclaw as a dedicated transport. It doesn't say any terminators in a CAD, it says any terminators. 40k being a permissive rule set therefore means it is allowed as permission has been given in IA13.

I have the book in front of me. " the dreadclaw may be taken as a Dedicated Transport for Chaos space marines and Chosen Squads. It may also be taken as a Dedicated Tranosport for Ferrum Infernus Dreadnoughts, Emeperors Children Sonic Dreadnoughts, Chaos Contemptor Dreacnoughts and Helbrutes. If this option is taken, the unit must deploy transported in, and enter play by way of, the dreadclaw"

No mention of termiantors at all, and the kharybids assault claw isn't a dedicated option for any unit.

My mistake. I do not have the book in front of me at the moment but will trust you are correct. I will have to relook at old lists then to make sure if I was aware of that before I stopped playing.
Looks like I'll have to keep my cultist tax then.

Side note - I would never use the kharybids. It is damn awful for its points on comparison to a dreadclaw!

I suppose there might be faq I'm unaware of, but as far I know terminators can't get a dedicated claw.

No you are probably completely correct. I havent played since June after leaving the country and my stuff is in my mothers garage so only have the new Legions book and new BA book with me. Going off memory and was convinced that terminators were included alongside marines and chosen. Faulty memory obviously.

Back to termie deathstar. I see a problem vs gravspam if you don't get 1-st turn.

You should totally deep strike your termy deathstar.

Not an option. Aiming for reliability and 1-st turn assault.

Theres a trick I do in Heresy lists. Take a bastion with an escape hatch, use it to boost a unit forward 12" first turn, and if you go second, you have a good amount of protection.
A void shield would be another way

Think about the deathclaw is its also a FA choice so if you have a cad in there you can get one for the termies. Maybe make this cad 2x cultists alpha legion to get some infiltrate going to put the pressure on. The HQ just buff it up and whack it with the termies in the pod

Not to mention when it comes down its still a flyer and can turbo boost normally... nothing stopping you droppings a unit off if you did buy it as a DT and then zipping over and picking other units up.
