Well there used to be the whole half fell to chaos but which half thing they had for a decade till BL torpedoed it.

Now there just a bunch of green smurfs.


Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

I agree. Aesthetically they look great with the robes and gothic vehicle hulls(because 40K doesn't have enough gothic in it), but besides that I really don't get what their 'thing' is. Yeah they keep a dark secret about past heresy but so do other chapters (Blood Angles' tower of vampires, Space Wolves' fighting the Inquisition and the Black Templars not giving a feth about the Codex Astartes or the Mechanicus). They're dark and brooding I suppose, which is always important in the grimdark.

Presumably the half that's not following the Imperium anymore.

That's kinda how the "falling to Chaos" thing works.
