Two moderators have Japanese wives and have lived in Japan for a while. Several members are in Japan now or lived there in the past. It's certainly more commonly mentioned than say Slovenian or Urdu. That said, I think a lot of Europeans and Indians commonly speak at least two languages, including English, and we aren't counting English, French and German as unusual foreign languages literally because they are so commonly spoken.

I knew Japanese back in the day when I used it more often but it faded pretty quickly when I did not use it much. I still recognize words and symbols here and there.

I speak in English, but think in bad English. It's like regular English but full of color metaphors for the people I'm judging silently. So much judging...
