@ scottshoemaker ,Sell those huh, well that's cool kinda wondering how much you charge now ,unlikely to ever part with mine, well maybe the easier scrap based markers, but not the more fancy ones.
@ Winter,Ohh i like them especially the icy water effect, nicely done,Barrels, another wooden thing there should be alot more of,nothing like a winters theme to add more feeling to other wise dull objects, makes you feel cold just looking at it.

Update on this thread,I intend to keep it going but am taking a break from making small 25mm based sets as i'am simply sick of making them,no surprise there how many i have made recently,so it's time to increase the scale and size of my next couple of sets up to 40mm,many more ideas for unusual and thought provoking pieces but need bigger bases,as it happens currently working on a couple of said markers likely post them sometime next week, after that will have to wait a good while longer to see what i create next,at least until i finish this months space marine challenge entry that is.

Edit:Just completed said 40mm markers, but they have spawned a couple of battlefield objectives, and turned out better than expected,so i'am going to make mini versions of them to accompany the bigger things i have made not posting till done so you all just going to have to wait

I recently made a ruined statue objective marker. I think I'll use it for Frostgrave or DnD. Maybe the heros have to conjure something on its steps or retrieve an artifact:

And here in action with some other terrain pieces and scenic backdrop:

I also used some Hirst Arts stuff for markers. Obviously treasure tokens, but also other random stuff:

Here is the tut for the ruined shrine base:

@DaggerAndBrush , Autumn fantasy theme huh interesting not seen many of them, have a nice atmosphere about your pictures, nice little marker collection too especially that table/box with deck of cards & candle on,nice tiny mushrooms on the summoning platform/artifact marker, they look very realistic.

@goblinpaladin ,That Coffin looks awesome would like one or more of them myself, wondering if you made it or bought it also cool sword in the stone, kinda want to make a 40k version of that now,but a power sword of course.

Notes on this thread:My next markers will be a long while off and be 60mm in size,But i will likely post smaller little things here and there to keep this thread alive, and so that others can also post there markers and inspire the rest of us to make something different.

The resin bases you get in the '40k basing set' make pretty good objective markers if you stick them on top of 4cm terminator bases.

-Very nice collection and great ideas! Some even feel like mini-dioramas almost!

The following set I made for 40k, trying to give them a uniform and consistent look, avoiding a particular faction-branding (in order to also be able to use them in as many different narrative games as possible), good visbility on the tabletop and to integrate the mysterious objectives rules. They are made out of pretty generic GW bits from terrain sprues old and new.
In games without the latter or before identification, the cover plate of the container will stay on. Whatever objective it turns out to be, a different "content" will show up (it's all magnetized).
Can you guess which ones represent which type of objective?

@u971: Thank you, glad you like them.

I love autumn as a season and thought: Hey, why not make this the theme of my Fantasy stuff. I also think this would work for a Frostgrave table: Late autumn, the first snow covers the land, but some trees still show colourful leaves.

The contrast the trees provide is just wonderful. What can I say, it makes me happy to look at it and reminds me of walks in Germany's autumnal forests, coming home to a hearty stew, some mold wine and maybe a slice of plum cake.

@goblinpaladin: I also like the sord in the stone. Very subtle, but evocative!

@Winter: The submerged barrels are also a cool idea. Didn't see this before.

@u971:

Cheers! All of the objective markers in my post are from Midlam Miniatures, based in the UK. The sword-in-the-stone is a bit fragile at the join and got bounced around in shipping, so be aware of that. It didn't snap or anything, but I'm paranoid about it.

The loot counters come from Gripping Beast's trade goods set.

@DaggerAndBrush:

Thanks! It's a bit cheeky, innit? I wish I could buy a cheap grail-shaped token as well, but postage to Australia is A Pain.

@Guildenstern ,And lots more idea's to come.

@goblinpaladin,Some cool models in that shop especially the animals i want some of them dogs now to serve as trusty imperial commanders pets, thanks for the link some real tempting stuff to buy there.

@Batō ,Going for more of a mini diorama direction, they are more interactive and interesting than a pile of some resin you have seen elsewhere, loving the magnetization and modular design of your markers, along with the different uses they have i see deathworld maneating mantraps, servo skulls multi use, power generator, teleport homer, sensors or possibly night vision beacons, your markers have alot of uses, likely follow your modular design in the future and make a marker that serves as several objectives in one model, ohh and nice use of the ammo dump drop canisters also.

Thread Update,Completed my challenge entry for this month, and will most likely soon start work on some more markers soon, well when my local shop decides to restock superglue that is! going for archeotech next, have many ideas on how best to represent such a thing all modular in design, will again have to wait and see what I come up with.

I finally started a set of 40k objective markers of my own!

Just a WIP shot so far.

About time I got round to these after all the objective marker love I've been giving my other games.

And here's one of my little Check Your 6! Mission objectives.

The mission is an Allied bombing run on a vital bridge to try and slow down the German advance. I've also made a couple of airfields, a radar station and a factory. They're all on display in the same gallery if anyone wants to go take a look.

@ theCrowe
What are them weird shaped containers, they look familiar somehow,Cool crate design never thought of having dangly bullets hanging out of them,
jealous of them tank shells too never been able to get hold of some myself, always knew they would make for cool looking objective markers, intrested to see how you paint them all up,
Voted on more of your stuff, while unrelated to markers them ork killakans of yours are just soo awesome cannot express fully how cool i think they are ,would love to make versions of my own based on yours, have the right bits too,but fresh out of 40mm bases atm.

Marker related, the markers i will make next require a few more bits than i currently have, and no superglue meaning no progress on the next marker/s yet ,should be back in stock soon though, then i will post some WIP of my own before completion.

Thanks for your comments and the votes too! I've yet to have a single item get to five votes, so you're helping me get there. Though not sure ill like what I see when one does.

Did you ever own a Vauxhal? Those wierd containers used to cover the wheel nuts of my old Astra. They prob came with the alloys that the chav who owned it before us put on it. They've been sitting in my bits box for about five years waiting for me to pull my finger out and get these made.

When I finally will get round to painting these will be another story.

Nahh you deserve them votes, and yeah just checked how long ago you posted them custom kans,it's just well weird they have not got more votes, guess it really is hard to get votes, lazy wannabe wargamers that seem to hover around the site I suspect, that extra 2 clicks is just too much for them, and no never had a vauxhal likely must have seen them on a brothers car.
As for when you get them painted, your not alone i have several boxes of half or unfinished projects.

Lots of Superglue on the way more markers be coming soon!

My objectives tend to be of the terrain piece type.

Here is a downed Blackhawk (15mm) used as an objective for various moderns games. Typically there are wounded air crew who need to be rescued or captured (depending on what side you are on...)

And this is my still (28mm). It has been raided by Revenuers, attacked by Greys, fought over by various clans/gangs and so on.

Some WIP Pics (Necromunda) ,Leaving the Chaos Markers for when chaos is a thing, likely do some Nurgle Markers when the new ones are released.
Focusing on the above Necromundian/Underhive theme,Only Heavy Industrial Bases, pipes, razor wire, steel grate flooring etc, have already finished more than half of them, will be as follows.
Water (Funds/Credits) Worth 5credits if captured,Table of Knifes (Melee Upgrades) Smoke Grenades (Concealment) Ammo Various (Credits/Reloads) Table of Grenades (Explosives Reload) Flamer Fuel (Credits or Ammo) Autocannon Shells (Credits/Reload) Promethium Caches/Barrels (Credits/Buying)

Will post them when I complete some non marker related stuff,Won't take long a few days, tend to take all my pictures in batches, will be making them into a collage being as there are many, save clogging up my gallery with pics, easier for viewers to see all at once, more convenient and less messy, likely keep the Fuel Caches separate though as they are more important to the whole games Mechanics.

Looking forward to seeing more of your Necromunda markers coming together. Necromunda is one of my all time most played games. Always just used the loot counters from the box set though. I can see the error of my ways now though. And I have a bits box full of handy trinkets... This thread is very infectious.

In other news...

Thanks, I really enjoyed building them, the balsa wood crates especially. I have a few more of those on the go for Necromunda markers because, like your "table of" pieces, it makes sense that these things aren't just lying around on the floor all the time.

I'm totally stealing your garlic net steel-floor basing style too. (hope you don't mind) and given that we have many of the same bits from no doubt all the same kits I'm sure it'll look a lot like more of the same. So sorry if it basically amounts to copying your good work. I'll call it a tribute. An homage if you will.

I did once make a tox-bomb marker... Not sure where that went. It was a water bottle with some scorpion green PVA glue coming out. I'm aiming for better this time.

Those barrels look familiar. Kinda... Stompy.

@ theCrowe Seems Garlic Net has alot of uses for this sorta thing,Super gluing is far from easy with the amount needed though your skin will suffer,Paint i used if your intrested tin bits uhh, warplock bronze, drybrushed leadblecher, washed nuln oil all over, looks to shiny otherwise.
Need some of them crates not got many of them tank handles though, maybe make some rope ones with some string,be cool to see someone elses Necromundian styled stuff your gang could use some upgrade tables,i remember that tox bomb was a melta charge cut in half with green pva in the middle, rather than use a melta bomb though would substitute one for a toxic pool, small enough to work, besides not got any melta bombs yet otherwize would have made one already.

Thread Related : Food & Water next, got a sweet little mushroom patch, and a imperial town well coming together, settlements watering hole, and cave mushrooms was a thing possible to find in necromunda so i'am making them.

Should post some Necromunda Backround on these things they all have backstory's,such as the Archeotech, meh will post some now might as well, will post it along with the relevant markers next time, both the watering hole and shrooms have similar backround info.

From the book >> ARCHEOTECH
Much of the Underhive is unexplored or inaccessible
and amongst the ruins lie factories, machines, stockpiles
of raw materials and stores of artefacts buried millennia
ago. Sudden structural catastrophes are not uncommon
in the lower parts of the hive, so it is easy to imagine
how a collapsed dome could be buried along with its
inhabitants. Over time the dome will be forgotten,
wastes leak in from above, and layers of hive dust pile
on top of the ruins. All this can remain untouched for
centuries, perhaps for millennia, until erosion or a
hivequake open up a small crawlhole into the ancient
dome.
When a tunnel into a new area is discovered it becomes
a magnet for fortune hunters. Any attempt at secrecy can
only succeed for a short while, and soon the dome will
be teeming with rivals. Inevitably there will be battles
over the spoils, and the victors will carry away the
choicest items for themselves.
Archeotech is the term given to ancient finds of
technical artefacts. The richest source of archeotech is
lost domes, but it is possible to find old machines at the
bottom of any deep layer of hive debris. The value of an
item depends very much on what it is. Old rusted
machinery is only good for scrap and will have to be
sold for the value of the metal it contains. Isotropic
crystal fuel rods, on the other hand, remain good so
long as they are unused, and can be traded for a good
price.

43-44 Vents 10 (Bunker Vent & Heatsink Complex)
The gang has found a concealed entrance into a network of ancient ventilation shafts.
When the gang fights a battle it can use these vents to position up to three fighters anywhere on the battlefield above ground
level. Models are set up at the end of the player’s first turn and cannot be placed within 8" of enemy models. This represents
the fighters working their way over and around the enemy using their secret air shafts.

11 Chem Pit 2D6 (Toxic Pool Cluster)
An extensive and highly dangerous chemical pit lies nearby. The pit is a source of constantly changing chemicals, sulphurous
deposits, and all kinds of poisonous and corrosive substances. If you want to collect chemicals from the pit you gain 2D6 credits.
The work is extremely hazardous. If you roll a double or a 6 when working out your credits then the ganger falls into the chem
pit but manages to haul himself free. He struggles back to base horrifically scarred, his skin covered with blisters. His appearance
is so foul that from now on he causes fear. No income is collected.

Ok, Necromunda objective ideas.

There are plenty of items in the rare trade chart that, even if they're not actually so rare they just rarely get used in the game. I used to number my loot counters and have a secret list of items or else just have players roll on a table to see what item came along with whatever creds are normally awarded for each counter. Typically it was small things like filter plugs, or photo-visors or various gas grenades that never seemed to feature in the game otherwise, usually because people just didn't want to spend creds on them.

Roll a D20
1 filter plugs
2 photo visor
3 grapnel
4 grav-chut
5 Ratskin map
6 blindsnake pouch
7 roll 2 D6 on the first 6 items and take both.
8 hot shot shells
9 manstopper shotgun shells
10 roll on the outlanders rare items table
11 roll 2 D10 on the first 10 items and take both
12 smoke bombs
13 halucinogen gas grenades
14 photon flash flares
15 melta bomb
16 red dot laser sight
17 bionic eye
18 mesh armour
19 iso-fuel rod
20 roll on the archeotech table.

It'd be the kind of thing easily done with your numbered crates.

But then there are many more elements of the game that I don't see in play much. Like skills tables nobody ever seems to roll on or maybe just doesn't have access to. You could have items that confer these skills.
- a camo cloak that lets the warer use that run+hide skill
- a pair of (big white 80s) hightops to give the finder the sprint agility skill.
- a zelda style hook-shot that lets people jump up to 4inches with a bonus to initiative roll or something.
- a brace of really nice custom las-pistols that gives your guy the gunfighter skill, but only if he uses them.
- a tool box that gives the finder the inventor tech skill.
-a Haynes manual for a randomly generated heavy/special weapon for turning any ganger into a specialist for that weapon only. You still have to go buy the weapon though.

Items that are scenario specific.
- A blueprint schematic that allows the player when attacking in their next "raid" or rescue mission scenario to move the still (or captive) 2D6 inches in a direction of their choice after deployment.
- Or a data point (just like the one you made) that gives you some bonuses in an ambush. Like some kind of Infrared tracker that means you can all still target hidden enemies.
- or razor wire- when defending in the raid scenario or rescue mission you can make each attacking individual take an initiative test at the start of the game. Anyone who fails starts the game pinned. (Of with a flesh wound if you want to be mean)
Still can't think of any specifically for the shoot-out scenario. Its a great scenario as it is. Maybe your table of knives could be throwing knives that are even quicker to draw than pistols.

Then some items in the game are already territory specific (isotropic fuel rod-converts crummy territory into a settlement) Some more items like that could be good.
- How about a dirty bomb that if deployed in a raid transforms one of the defender's territories into a noxious rad-zone.
- Or an old map that reveals that your lowest value territory is actually the entrance to some old tunnels but you have to sacrifice a ganger for two games to dig them out with no income.
-or maybe even an item to convert a territory into a whole new territory type like a firing range that allows a ganger who generates income from it to substitute a skill he has for a shooting skill.

Then lastly there's the potential for XP advance related items.
- A good book- "Juve 101"-everything a Juve might need to know but be too incompetent to ask. Confers 3 Xp on any juve who reads it post battle while the gangers are generating income. One juve per game.
- or a power lifting guide to allow a ganger to substitute his next advance for a Strength bonus if it's a stat increase or a muscle skill if it's a skills advance.

Or, maybe in a slight different vein... A set of short-range coms beads that extend your leader's leadership range to 8 inches.
-a schoolbag that lets your heavy assign an apprenticeship on a Juve to allow the heavy to generate income like a ganger (While the Juve does his homework fixing the gang's gear) assuming both survive a game.

The possibilities are pretty open. I'm thinking stuff that people would find useful but wouldn't just break the game. Obviously some of these are a bit jokey and occasionally out of style with the whole game, hightops and Haynes manuals and schoolbags, but the point is always to add flavour and have fun with the game.

Any and all of these ideas are of course yours to realise if you want to. No doubt a few of them already exist in the game in some form or other, I've just forgotten that I didn't come up with them. I'll maybe have a go at making some makers for a few of them myself too. Necromunda really is the most customisable game GW ever made. Its an all time classic and the objective marker possibilities are really endless. But isn't this all just exactly the kind of thing you're talking about?
