Congrats? I think they're awful. I normally love the Viking aestethic, but the Space Wolves are pushing it into Furry territory

Yeah only my opinion of course, it doesn't worth more than 2 cents, I just wanted to say that SW don't have an ugly paint scheme for a fact, that's a subjective matter. I personally can't stand those yellow marines for example, and all 30k models too, including the SW ones.

The OP was thinking about starting SW so suggesting to change their color scheme is completely OT as he probably like them as they are.

They're certainly well painted but I prefer 40k colors for sure. Maybe it's also a matter of models as I dislike everything about 30k, especially my beloved SW, as in 30k they're just regular space marines. No big wolves and werewolves? No space wolves

Ahh yes, who could forget the classic Wolfy wolf teeth wolf guard with wolf boots, wolf bolters, and wolf grenades for close combat. An army of My Little Ponies would look better than the Space Wolves.

Admittedly I only started the same time the 7th ed Space Wolves Codex dropped but I've never encountered Wolf boots or Wolf grenades - where can you get them?

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

That's just your opinion, maybe he likes their color scheme. Actually I don't like any other SM chapter, including their color schemes, only SW have my love. Seriously, are yellow marines looking better than light blue/grey ones?

Yes, actually.

Space Wolves have a bland shade of almost-blue on them accented by glaring canary yellow, its just sinfully ugly. The Imperial Fists, while not a particularly great looking army, at least have a decent combination in their yellow with red accents. In fact, the shade of yellow used for them (seen here) is one of the less ugly non-gold shades out there.

"Fetching" is pushing it. "Passably bland" is more accurate. At least it's not sinfully ugly like 40k spesspuppies.

40k Space Wolves at least have the excuse of being semi-camuflaged in miserable cold, wet conditions - Imperial Fists only decent paint job is the Black Templar founding.

None of the Space Marine chapters count as camoflaged.

Actually, 40k Space Wolves do.
Rune Priest -> Tempestas discipline -> Storm Caller.
Funny coincidence that the fluff labels 40k Space Wolves paint as 'Storm Grey'.

What are the Crimson Fists? Or even the Imperial Fists 5th Company (their Great Crusade Colors of Yellow and Black). Not saying the Templars dont look good (they do look good), but cant discount the Dark Blue and the Yellow and Black.

Oh right the Soul Drinkers, their colors look good too. Dont care for the Chapter, but they look nice.

I think Crimson Fists look good, I have no idea how Imperial Fists 5th company is different to the normal ugly Imperial Fists colour scheme - never seen them, Soul Drinker are lightning purple and gold right? Looks nice.

My top three would be
White Scars - White with red trim is a nightmare to paint but looks amazing when done well.
Blood Angels - Metalic Sanguine with Gold trim always looks great.
Thousand Sons - Electric Blue with Gold and Silver trim is beautiful.

Spoiler:

Imperial Fists 5th CO (and heresy colors), are Yellow with Black Trim, rather than the awful Yellow with Red Trim or really any of the Companies of the modern Fists beyond the 5th as they use the Codex Colors for the trim. And yeah the Soul Drinkers are Purple and Gold.

I can respect your top three, those schemes do look really nice.

The bright canary yellow syas otherwise.

I love the bold yellow with red trim used by Angry Marines. If I ever decide to make spess mehreens it'll be Angry Marines. Otherwise my vote is Orks but consider me biased as I love Orks.

Lightning flashes, combined with the metalic gold and muzzle flashes it's supposed to be disorientating - got the idea off a budgie if memory serves.
