Earthshakers are going to be STR 9 battle cannons, with whatever barrage gives out. As for Wyvern, I dunno keeping them as is with twin linked would be insane, I think.

Now to offer a profile of my own, featuring my favorite infantry weapon

Hotshot lasgun STR 3 AP-3 dmg 1 with 18'' range, basically, you give up strength and range for reliable armor penetration. Knowing GW it will most likely be AP-2, but I really feel like it should get more AP, as every other stats are bad.

I would comment on Necron weaponry, but since virtually all of them have some kind of special rule, I think I'll pass and comment on some Astra Militarum weapons instead.

Shotgun - Range 18" Assault D3, Damage 1 AP 0 (scatter shot)
Shotgun - Range 18" Assault 2, Damage 1 AP 0 (Slug Shot)

(Space marine shotguns will have the same stats, but both shot types will have strength 4, as fluff wise their shotguns are much bigger)

Heavy Stubber - Range 36" Heavy 3, Damage 1 AP 0

Inferno Cannon - Range 8" Heavy 2D6 (roll both dice, pick the highest) Damage 1 AP-2

While 8d6 (ie a straight translation of "a small blast is d6, and twin-linked doubles number of shots) would be pretty insane, bumping the Wyvern all the way down to 1d6 (so, a single mortar on wheels) would be a bit too much of a nerf.

Maybe they'll just drop the twin-link and make it 4d6?

No it isn't as Frag Grenades are also D6.
The Thermal Cannon was Large Blast and is now D3 (or D6 if the defending uint has 5+ models).

Ignore the old blast sizes as they don't apply.


Which is why I expect Frag Missiles will be Rng 48" | Heavy D6 | S 4 | AP 0 | D 1


I could see Wyvern Frag Mortars being something like this if they aren't Heavy 8D6: Heavy 4D6 | S4 | AP 0 | D1 | May target units out of Line of Sight with -1 to To Hit Rolls. Add +1 to all To Hit rolls made against units with 5 or more models.

There is a very good reason they downgraded the thermal cannon to a d3 for groups less than 5, so you wouldn't one shot heavy vehicles with it.

3.5 * 2/3 * 2/3 * 1 * 3.5 = 5.44 damage against a leman russ at greater than half range or about 7 damage at less than half. That's average, the upper limit to the range is much higher, and there is a not insignificant chance of it just vaporizing a 12 wound toughness 8 3+ armor save vehicle

2/3 * 2/3 * 2/3 * 1 * 1/8 = 11% chance to one shot a leman russ at greater than half distance, not often enough to rely on but often enough to have seen it happen a few times.

2/3 * 2/3 * 2/3 * 1 * 27/64 = 37.5% chance to one shot a leman russ inside melta range. Frequent enough to be a viable risk, and in the once every game or two category of frequency. This is actually a bit better than it's chance to one shot a leman russ in 7th ed

at a D3 hits it's a
1/3 * 2/3 * 2/3 * 1 * 27/64 = 18.8% chance in melta range to one shot a tough vehicle and 5.5% chance outside of melta range.

As for the frag change, it's a similar math thing,
Frag 2 * 2/3 * 1/2 * 1/3 = 22% of shots gets a kill against MeQ
Krak 2/3 *5/6 *2/3 = 37% of shots gets a kill against MeQ
Frag d6 hits 3.5 * 2/3 * 1/2 * 1/3 = 39% of shots get a kill

This makes frag the best choice for any infantry short of terminators and krak better against vehicles. Otherwise you'd never use frag.

which is to say these are exceptions, rather than what we can expect the majority of the time. It also shows they put some thoughts into this rather than just converting straight across.

I mean, it's a bit much to say they're exceptions when we don't even know if a rule exists.

Especially given that 2/3 of the blasts weapons we know don't follow the preconceived notion that "Small = D3, Large = D6, and so on).

Krak missiles increase in value against targets with 2+ wounds or Disgustingly Resilient or similar.

I suspect all blasts will be 1d6.

Large blasts will be +1d6 if the target unit has 10+ models in it.

This seems simplest and most logical.
