Primaris Marines won't make me quit.
I'm still going to buy The Horus Heresy boxes. I'm still going to use those models years from now. Heck, I'm still going to use the old 1st edition Terminators even though the new models are larger. If anyone has a problem, tough.
Just because they'll probably use the NuMarines to phase out the older models doesn't mean everyone has to change their armies. I certainly won't, even if I end up getting some NuMarines later on.

It might indeed be marketing speak. On the other hand, my dwarfs, orcs, goblins and such are still actually playing (technical or no). I see no reason not to continue playing with what I already have. The new models do look nice, so maybe a squad or two will make their way into my collection.
You know.. Like Lizardmen, Savage Orcs, Skaven Pestilens, A bunch of Ghoul stuff...
Wait, they have touched them again and gave them rules as a result! Silly that, you must've overlooked those battletomes instead of trying to ignore them because they break your point.
Name one new model they gave to those factions that didn't exist pre- AoS.
I'm not sure if Savage Orcs got something but it was probably bastardized yet again into a semi-new faction rather than its own full faction. Dwarfs got split but mostly nothing. Most attention was to chaos and sigmarines. After 2 whole years that's not a lot of attention to other factions. Also brets and tomb kings were discontinued. But hey AoS must be super popular for that to happen! Even considering a change in leadership at about that time with the head of GW getting canned. That's just a coincidence man!
alright new question, what new stuff have existing armies (other then space marines who got a few bits of stuff thanks to the horus heresy boxes) gotten in the last year?
remember 1k sons are being billed as their own mini faction. Small factions that can "stand alone" but are also part of potentially a greater whole has ALREADY been 40ks MO.

Right?
I don't think I'll be replacing my existing reinforced company of marines with NuMarines. If they really push the rules beyond "counts as" feasability, I will be playing Xenos in competitive metas, probably either Eldar or Nids.

Sadness.
See, that is why I am on a purchase freeze for my chapter project, right now I have about 75% of a battle company minus vehicle. Gotta see how this numareen thing pans out

Ok, seriously, what is the big deal?
They're just phasing in a new size of Space Marine, just like they did before (2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th, can't remember which it was).
GW is not coming into your homes and smashing up your current Space Marine armies.
GW isn't telling you that you can't play with your current armies anymore and that you have to replace them with the new Primaris Marines.
Don't Panic.
Game with your current armies if you want. Buy the New Marines if you want. Or do both like I will. Do whatever floats your boat.

I play death so I understand the pain, but then again AoS IS more popular than WHFB so they were right to can it. Currently new models are coming out from old factions such as deathguard, and you can still play old marines. They never said they were gonna discontinue any of the older marines stuff which compared to many other factions are VERY new so you don't have to worry about them.

No new models, though I do believe they tweaked some of the kits to give them more options? However two of the three complaints were that old factions had been hung out to dry in fluff and rules terms. Not entirely the case as shown with these factions though you are correct that the focus is very much on Stormcast and Mortal/Daemon Chaos.
On topic, yes it seems very likely these new models will eventually phase out the smaller ones.

Bretonnians and Tomb Kings both have war scrolls:

I don't understand it when people say this.
Are these factions not in the general's handbook?

They are indeed, along with all the other old school factions. This includes factions that have now been split if you want to play them "classically".

Brets waited editions without any updates and now have no fluff place in the new system. I can kind of understand some bitterness there from patient players who will never get model updates.
Tomb Kings I think have models released relatively recently, I guess they're just sad they have no fluff.
(Well no fluff beyond guys that look like this exist, have fun making up your own stories for them)
