Yep - I've been looking for an excuse for a fresh start. I'm trading my Nurgle half for a friend's Marine half.
20 Intercessors, 10 Hellblasters, 6 Inceptors and the Command models (which I probably won't use doubles of) will be getting near 1,000 points already. Add in a Redemptor and it should be a solid force for not a whole lot.

I'm glad I waited to buy the start collecting space marines box. @my flgs they said the new boxed set will be $160US.
I was gonna start a Salamander company, now I'm gonna use the Primus to make a new mixed company.

Uhmmmmmm let me take an appropriate time to think about that. OK done. Nope. Busy on my ork army right now. I'm a collector. Whatever changes they make I can select appropriately for my list as needed if/when I get around to playing the game itself. But you can bet I'm going to get some of those new or buggies no matter how the crunch or look is. Gotta have em in my Waaaagh! If I ever get around to a second army it'll be IG. I've seen enough marines in an infinite number of colours that I don't need to come home and see more.

Just waiting half-interested if Tank Guard, Aspect Eldar and Scions will be playable.
I understand the frenzy for the new models and mega-marines are probably inevitable, but I think the new nurgle stuff is the usual, new super-busy garbage.
FW plagues are way better.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

I'm interested in using the Primaris as a chance to do up a bunch of pre-heresy painted Dark Angels and using them alongside my DA. The basic background for it will be a bureaucratic blunder at the forge world painting up all that new Mk. X armour meant that the stuff slated for the Dark Angels was never updated with the various colour changes the Dark Angels have made over the millennia. So they painted it all up to spec for Great Crusade era Dark Angels. It mixes two loves, black and red colour schemes and Gilliam-esque bureaucratic humour!
As for the Death Guard, I've always liked them. The bloated, felshy look. The archaic armour covered in pox and blight. That slow-moving, tough wave of death. So I figure they'll make a good jumping off point for grabbing a faction other than Dark Angels for the first time in over 20 years. Should make for a really different painting experience next to what I normally go with as well.
And if 8th ends up not being to my taste in the end? The army in that box will make an excellent 2nd Edition Death Guard force (a big one too!).

Maybe if I had a vanilla space marine army. However I play Space Wolves and don't see how they'll play a big part in our army just yet.

given the absolute shallacking the space wolves took at the hands of the 1k sons, I suspect the space Wolves are in despirate need of reinforcement. that combined with their welcoming of the wulfen because "they are our brothers" makes me suspect they'll welcome the Primaris Marines.

We'll do it in our own way.
Also... I never got to read the second half of the book series for war over the Fenris system. I'll need to read it it seems.

I voted that I'm doing both, but really I intend to use the Primaris Marines to bolster my Dark Angels, assuming I can do that. Otherwise they'll become Blood Ravens (maybe I'll split them between the two anyway). I do intend to make use of the Death Guard models as well, as they are too cool to pass up. With that in mind I am holding off on painting any of my existing CSM until I know what can be used by the Death Guard.

This. I'll add the new Plague Marines to my collection of Death Guard but I won't start a new army because of them.

While I'm getting the new 8th edition starter box, I'm going to be selling both my death guard and primaris marine models, but keeping the rest.
I'm planning to start collecting an Astra militarum army. Used to have one, but sold it when I left the hobby 15-17 years ago, and who doesn't like tanks, bug guns and big standard humans with Mars pattern ceramite balls to take on the galaxies nastiest threats?

I am going to integrate the Primaris Marines into my current army, but I am not basing my army around them. I am going to put the two Intercessor Squads, the two Lieutenants, and probably the Hellblasters in my army. If I can find a spot for him, maybe the Ancient as well (I have a Standard Bearer for my Crimson Fists, so it isn't completely necessary). I like the Inceptors. If Crimson Fists still get a bonus with Bolt Weapons, I might look for a place for them as well. But the Captain is pretty much a no-go.
Fluffwise, these Marines are part of the effort to restore the Crimson Fists to full Chapter capacity. But they aren't going to be replacing my Sternguard Squads. If the Hellblasters are functionally Devastators and get a bonus for being Crimson Fists, they might replace my Lascannon Devastators. But Pedro Kantor is still going to be the man in charge.

I don't plan on starting a new army. While I do like the look of the numarines I have no desire to start a SM army anytime soon. And honestly I don't like the look of the new Death Guard. They just look almost cartoonish to me. However I am curious to see what other cool stuff that GW will come up with. I personally recommend updating the imperial guard. You know for science.

Its clear that the storyline behind primaris marines is weak that being said they needed something in the fluff to justify a new product line so its as good as any I could think of to allow them to create new models in their most popular selling line.
I've had a bunch of daemons lying around so I will be using both sets of models in my games although the primaris ones will go into my existing chapter not a stand alone army.
If people think that the fluff justification for primaris marines is stupid what would they think is better?

I don't plan on starting a whole new army. I will be selling the DG from the starter set as I don't play Chaos. The Primaris Marines will reinforce either my Blood Angels or Space Wolves. I just have to decide how to paint them.

I will probably include some primaris marines in my current Ultramarine army. I'm going to be forging a lot of my own narrative in this case because the primaris fluff is just atrocious.

The DG are fantastic. Really great models. Would love to start a DG army with some old marines plus the numarines but... I don't have time to paint what I nalready have let alone the time to do justice to those new DG models. But I think everyone who has of in them to do so should because they are really great models IMO

I love Chaos Space Marines, so I'm more than willing to get these models, even if I'm not exactly planning on building an army with them - they'll just go alongside Typhus and the other couple squads of Plague Marines I currently have.
EDIT: And I have a friend that wants the new Primaris Marines, so it's all working out.

Unsure at this point, but if I do it will be using the new DG models. I very much dislike the concept of the Primaris SM's.
I have an AdMech army that I was working on (War Convocation), but all work stopped once 8th edition was announced. At this point I don't believe the army I've built will even be usable in 8th.
