Once I can afford them, yes, to both armies. The new starter set just so happens to match my personal fluff in ways that are kinda scary, and I have been wanting to put together a Death Guard army since late 5th Edition. Now, my custom Chapter is getting its successor in the form or Primaris Marines, and my dream Death Guard army can finally happen in all plastic!

I actually have a bunch of unbuilt unpainted chaos models I've acquired over the year starting in 4th edition. I've been having a hard time deciding between The Cleaved and Alpha Legion. Now I'm thinking the older kits will be painted as The Cleaved, use Death Guard Legion rules and be allies to the new line of DG. Nurgle has always been my favorite chaos god. I do keep a special place in my hobby heart for the Alpha Legion though. I love their color schemes and The Harrowing is a kickass fluff tactic.

what fluff is that? we've barely scratched the surface of the fluff so far, I mean try to summerize ANY of the 40k factions in 2 sentences and they're proably gonna sound rediculas.

Dang. ATM I'm one of 2 people adding new stuff to old armies. I mean I play UM. Is RG "new"? Or do we just mean Primaris? I'll probably make 20 of them and use 10 at most in a standard battle.

While I like the new models, and am looking forward to painting up the Death Guard. I'm NOT starting a new army.
I just started a Thousand Sons army, so if I feel like it I can field the DG as allies.
I already have 3 marine armies, so I'm not keen on adding a fourth. My custom (vanilla codex) chapter fluff had them being isolated and almost destroyed before rejoining the Imperium. I was thinking of adding more scouts to them and updating the paint, so adding the Primaris Marines to them seems like the best option. I think I have enough troops for my marine armies, I need more vehicles and some flyers.

I've got 8 armies already, so that's a big ol' nope for me.
Though, the Primaris jump (Intercessor?) marines have my interest. However, I've got well over 400 marines already, so I don't need to add anything to that.

The Death Guard edges out the Word Bearers as my second favorite legion. I already have the Word Bearers from Betrayl at Calth (and the termy captain and a traitor librarian) painted in Word Bearers heraldry. I was planning on repainting everything Death Guard and supplementing the new set with them, plus I have a bunch of plaguebearers and 10 blightkings I planned on converting. Unfortunately I think I am going to keep them as Word Bearers and move forward with CSM. The Heresy era armour just doesn't jive with 40k DG. After seeing the new plague marines I don't think I can convert the blight kings convincingly enough. Plus it's a safe bet the DG will be more than represented at my FLGS. They are a fantastic set of space marines but I don't want to run an army half the store already has.

I was planning to start an Ultramarines force ever since I saw the Guillimanminiature, then the rumours for 8th Edition started to become real. I chose not to buy any miniatures (at least for the Space Marines) until the new edition.
It seems the box might be a nice fresh start.

I'm not planning on building an army around the new models.
I have to admit that the new models are great but I have still a lot of miniatures to paint from other box sets:
Space Hulk, Dark Vengeance, Deathwatch Overkill and Doom (new boardgame from 2017). As of now only 16 models from all these boxed games are ready to see tabletop action.
Another detrimental factor is that I already own four forces dedicated to Nurgle: Warriors of the Dark Gods (9th Age), CSM, Traitor Guard/Legion of the Damned and Chaos Daemons. So there is no need to add new models to this collection apart from the Blight Drone which piqued my interest.
As already mentioned the Uber Marines are looking good but they are invalidating the traditional SM model range. They also don´t mesh well with the old school marines because of their size difference and different base size.

I don't like the stark individuality of the deathguard models. I actually prefer a generally more homogenised appearance in my armies. However, I'd be looking forward to including some of the characters, or perhaps using them as a basis for conversions.

Considering it. I am tempted to make an Ultramarines army out of the Primaris dudes. I have the HH Guilliman and wouldn't mind finding a reason to play him (don't care for Ultras in 30K). Make a Matt Ward "Better than you" Marines army just to rankle people.
The DG models are amazing so I'll probably do an army of them. What I am considering doing is cutting out the guts and DG iconography and replacing it with cables to make them into Iron Warriors, that way I can supplement the army with my 30K units. That Chaos Levi datasheet has me drooling!

I am not. I don't have an SM army that I wish to put Primaris with, (GKT army), and DG is probably lowest on my CSM 'favorites' list. Though I think the models for both do look fantastic, except for those goofy Inceptors. I already have my projects for 8th going, and the only thing that will change that, is if GW actually releases Sororitas in plastic.

Don't get me wrong, the Primaris look fantastic next to human-scale models - I love finally seeing Marines the size they're depicted in the background I just really enjoy painting and playing Tyranids, and am really looking forward to using them with the new 8th edition rules. I don't get enough time to play with my Tyranids as much as I'd like as it is, without adding in another army!

Indeed. The models in the Age of Sigmar Starter Set are the same way - push fit models. But the infantry kits in that have all received proper kits since then with additional options. Give it time and you will probably be able to pick up the regular kits within a year or so.
