As you all probably know, with the release of 8th edition, we're getting Primaris Marines and new Death Guard models. I'm curious to see how many people are or planning on making new armies around these new models, since it seems like most people like them. I'm heavily considering building forces around both of them, but I'm not really sure at the moment.

I like them, but I am indecisive enough and just recently (like this past weekend) bought about $150 worth of Eldar (Start Collecting, box of Guardians and box of Dire Avengers) to start an army so I really should focus on something before I jump ship again

I'm just going to make characters out of Primaris Marines.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

On moon miranda.

The Primaris models arent bad but the line is far from complete, and, more importantly, the background implementation behind them is monstrously stupid.

The Death Guard models are...technically very well sculpted for plastic, but really display all the hallmarks of plastic limitations as well, giving them a very "videogame" appearance, and while it may just be the paintjob they have been shown with thus far, have far too many strong lines and clear features to really feel right to me. Also the new naming conventions sound like something out of a bad harry potter fanfic.

So probably no in either case.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I've always had a strong Nurgle presence in my Red Corsairs but no real obviously Nurgle contingent. The new Death Guard look good enough for me to find some more bits to make a full Warband under a Nurgle Lord that serves the overall army of Red Corsairs. After all, The Tyrant of Badab doesn't need to bother himself with every little operation.

I voted i'm not sure. I like the look of the nu-marines, but it'll depend on pricing and the quality of the rules before i decide to commit.

That'd be a texas sized nope for me there good buddy.

I'm pretty loyal to my Guard, and still have to build them back up to what they were. The other army I've always wanted to do would be Orks, so we'll see if they get some cool new kits.

I am considering the box set, and I have the intention to collect either 3rd or 5th Ultramarines Co. but I am not as keen as I thought I would be about the Death Guard, they look like a mess to me, so many features and none of them appear to be really trying to engage anything with their weapons.

Compared to the Marines who actually have the apperance of either being in a firefight or ready for one.

Love the look of the Death Guard models, but cant bring myself to drop $160 just to turn to Chaos for the first time in my 40k career. I guess its just a stupid matter of principal

I'm not, but only because I have so many unfinished armies already. If I was in the market for a new army, I'd start with the boxed set.

No option for possibly starting both DG and Primaris? 8th is a good excuse for a fresh start and both sides seem tempting.

Primaris marines for me. As much as I hate the fluff, I love the models more. I plan to start a new chapter of pure primaris marines.

I currently already have nurgle demons, so getting death guard isn't necessarily a 'new' army. I dunno how that fits in with the poll.

Sadly nobody I know wants the new Big and Tall Marines. So I have no clue what to do with half the box.

I feel really bad about doing Primaris Marines instead of Death Guard, but that's the way I'm leaning.

Nope, no interest in Marines, no matter how hyped up or pustulent they are.

Primaris Marines half of the starter is going to my Guardians of the Covenant army. Deathguard is gonna make my Half Chaos of Dark Vengeance into something more like a full usable Chaos army

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Sticking with my Guard, after all this time there are still so many ways to expand my forces (looking at Ogryns and Hellhounds next)

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

Not gonna lie, Probably gonna start a new Primaris army even after everything I've said.

I even have some lore written up for them based off the Power Rangers.

Strongly considering getting back into 40k and Chaos with those Death Guard.

Would do them as Black Legion colour scheme: mainly black with Nurgle greens for the edging. Planning towards a more coherent looking force I could mix and match with other Chaos legions if they do groovy models for...eh...other Traitor Legions.

Have just thought

... could the Primaris marines be used as Legion of the Dammed? I do hope that LOTD get plastics and an actual full range. (once they have done plastic Sisters!)
