Bounding Ultramarine Assault Trooper

Well the long, painful process of lengthening their legs has begun. I'm looking at making a total of 28 power armored dudes for the Ultramarines battle force. I'm nowl planning on 2 full tactical squads, 5 company veterans, Company Champion, Apothecary, and Captain. The 2 Rhinos I made are for these guys and once the infantry is done I'm going to try my hand at hacking up a dreadnought or two. As usual any comments, critiques, or tips are more than welcome. Especially if you have some insight on how to "truescale" a dreadnought. Thanks.

Just a small update here. I'm still plugging away on the Ultramarines. I've started to put some paint on the Rhinos whenever I need a break from cutting and flying legs. Somewhere in there I put together a Chaplain for the Ultramarine battleforce. Him and the redone Captain are shown next to an old Novamarine of mine for scale. Comments or critiques welcome.

Nice use of the Reiver head.
That's a lot of lengthening to do. Going to be something when it is all done.

Thanks youwashock. I bought a box of those guys and have decided that those helmets will serve much better as chaplain heads. I'll just use the unhelmeted heads if I ever actually build some reivers.
I'm still slowly chugging away on some more Ultramarines. Here are three out the 14 bolter marines I'll be making for this Ultramarines battleforce. All comments are welcome and any suggestions on poses would be greatly appreciated. Figuring that much out takes up about half of the time. Lol

Another two bolter brothers finished up. Nine more to go.
Here we have one throwing a frag grenade and another who has switched to his sidearm after his primary ran dry.

A few different updates this time. First, I finished all of the base colors for the Rhinos and finished chopping the legs for the rest of the Ultramarines bolter brothers. I still haven't decided on how to put markings on the Rhinos.

The other thing I tried figuring out was snow bases. I decided on snow basing the Raven Guard to help bring some contrast to the dark models. I tried three different methods. First was just PVA and baking soda. Then I tried some PVA, white paint, and baking soda. The last one I used PVA, baking soda, and realistic water from a terrain modeling kit. I personally like how the third one turned out. This is my first time trying snow bases though. Let me know what you think and if you have any tips on making them better that'd be awesome.

I just used some old unfinished models I had to test the bases.

Well, I'm done with the Raven Guard Tactical Squad (minus the Sgt). I went with a mix of PVA, baking soda, and realistic water. They all have Raven Guard symbols from Shapeways. Half of them have tactical arrows from them as well. I also used transfers for Squad markings on their left knees.

And this is a final size comparison with a normal bolter marine on a plain base.

The snow looks good. Nice contrast with the marines.

These look really cool! (now I need to make something similar for Necromunda, ha!)
