yeah, i thought about paint and it will most likely be the easiest way to go.
I just thought some kind of ornament or armor attachment might be neater.

I used the Vader-esque helmets for Guardsmen and the ones with the kind of flat plate and visor slits for Vets. I made them more distinct still by painting the vet helmets in the chestplate color and the guardsmen helmets in the coat color.

I have 50+ stormtroopers that I'm going to use as Scions.

I'm waiting for my Scions Command box to arrive so I can convert three stormtroopers into Scions Sergeants. And going to assemble two scions as Tempestor Prime for HQ slots and issuing orders.

i thought i'd update this thread with some of my progress...
the pics arent the bext but hopefully you get the idea.

i usd necron heads for my veterans and cadian arms for the sergeants.

Just because i had a bunch of them and it kind of reminds me of the forge world enforcer head.
If you look at the head it also kind of looks like a mask on a human head.

I have a pile of those and I was really, genuinely not impressed, but now that I look at them with cadian arms, they might not be too bad.

Maybe I'll have to pull them back out and give them a second chance. Might look cool with the beret heads from the Scion kit.

One thing I'd definitely do though is cut that hokey tab across the bottom of the feet off.

I think it will be much easier to build the base up a little to hide the tab rather than remove it.

now the next question is whether or not to go loyalist or renegade.
regardless of which way i decide to go i will be using the astra militarum list for rules.

i'm leaning towards renegade because my vehicles have seen better days and have a battered worn look. the troopers are kind of sinister looking and my ratlings are literally rats... i used plague monks as a base with skitarii arms for sniper rifles.
i also have tons of icons and banners from the skaven which would convert pretty easily into a nurgle themed aesthetic. and i have a ton of DV cultist to use as conscripts if i wanted.

now everything except the skaven could be made to work pretty easily as a battered loyal guard regiment. i'm just not sure if the skaven ratlings would fit in a loyalist army.

ive also been considering changing the necron heads out for scion heads.
i like the necron head but im not sure that it fits as well as i hoped.

what do you guys think?
