They do it on a 1. On a 2+ it does nothing.

The problem isn't that Daemons lack anti-morale, the problem is that their anti-morale is gakky.

honestly morale in 8th is a non issue for many armies:
IG - commissars
Orks - mob rulez
Tyr -synapse
Renagdes and heretics - enforcer
Chaos Marines - huron (crappy, i know, but still)

IDK about eldar/DE/Tau/Necrons

but honestly if you want to ignore morale, you can. With a lot of armies and options.

Also, MSU means you ALWAYS give up going first.

So, yes, daemons suck at hordes and Morale. Who cares. True hordes armies don't. Elite armies don't suck at morale either, due to low model count in any given unit (terminators, bikes, tactical squads, and so on...)
What really rustles my jymmies is it this invalidated one of the first things the Devs said about 8th " No longer Fearless all over the board for 90% of the armies" Yeah. Of course.

T'au has some tools, but nothing close to hordes:

- Ethereal: units within 6" use his Ld (9) (used to be 12"...)
- Aun'Va: same of above, but let's all T'au units to re-roll morale
- most T'au infantry: auto-pass on a 6 (quite troll-y)

AI & BFG: / BMG: Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke / Battletech: SR, OWA / Fallout Factions: BoS / HGB: Caprice / Malifaux: Arcanists, Guild, Outcasts / MCP: Mutants / SAGA: Ordensstaat / SW Legion: CIS / WWX: Union

quite meh morale mitigations...still better than chaos though. But can Tau have big blobs? (that would require/justify a couple of those shenanigans?)

As far as I know, Tau's largest squad size is 12 (a drone squad). Most of their infantry are 5-10 and battlesuits are usually around 2-3.

So basically, Tau mostly rely on MSU to avoid battleshock.

Well, I guess Kroot have squad size 20 and their only mitigation is getting LD7 from a Shaper, which kind of makes Kroot suck. But what else is new there?

If you look at in the context of unit sizes, Tau backed by Ethereals or Aun'va aren't too worried about morale. Without Ethereals though then it can be a problem on their bigger units (Fire Warriors and Drones, notably).

I've had the same experiences with the Primaris marines. Small unit sizes definitely make a big difference for Morale. However, the trade-off of MSU reducing your chances of going first is a problem unless you utilise transports.
