Shoot, I have been "burnt out" of GW games for years. After selling off all my stuff I am recently coming back to it. What got me motivated was collecting oddball models for my armies. One army is all Tallarn (except for Yarrick, I just love him too much), and the other is the whole 3rd Company of Blood Angels, like 90% made up of old metal Death Company models. It's been tons of fun building armies I always dreamed of collecting as a kid.

When I hit a slump in model building, I just put some battle reports on in the background while I do stuff. After selling few of those, shaving the mould lines off of every model no longer seems like a chore, and the excitement of finally playing a game of 8th kicks in. Or, I will go down to the local store on the 40k night and build models there. Hearing people play makes me want to join in so badly. Blurry picture of the progress made since I started building the BA recently!

The beak is strong with this one!
Love the poses.
Top notch.

Trolls will be trolls. Take down one and more will take his place.
Funny to find one guy on a forum, regarding warhammer stuff, nagging about how bad the game and all the schmuck is.
Not like there is anything bad regarding not liking the company or the games, sure everyone can have their opinion. But being a "Male Genetaila" about it will not help anyone nor get the point trough.

Haters trolls and whiners, all are part of our community in some way or another. At least they can be dealt with here... and its even better to deal with them at the local game store.

The issues and solutions section of the basic wargamer:

I: I would love to paint my minis, i just don´t have the time for it!
S: Well that is just bullcrap, you know it too. I sincerely don´t think that there is not one hour in your whole week where you have no free time whatsoever that you could spend on your minis. If you are overseas or whatever, cool fine sure i did not say anything. But lying to yourself is not a solution. The time would be there, but the issue you have is somewhere else. You see lying to yourself gives you comfort, its better to say i don´t have the time then actually saying to yourself i dont freaking want to. So, stop lying to yourself, this will not help you. Not you nor anyone, really.

I: I lack inspiration, i have no ideas!
S: Understandable. The only problem is again - you are right now using something, that could help you. The pinnacle of human technology, the whole wisdom of all that is know to mankind is lying at your side. Yes, the almighty internet. You can find everything. Artwork, painted models, color schemes - everything is at your disposal. And i am sure many wargamers will help you, too. And don´t forget to visit your local store/club , where you will surely find creative and nice people, which can show you something new. And maybe you will try it out for yourself someday.

I: I dont have the bucks for this hobby.
S: I fell you brother, i really do, me neither. See i have to take some hard earned euros each month to the side, and purchase one model per month at best. And that is exactly what you should do too. Take a few coins, and put it into your piggybank. Or warbank. No army was ever built and purchased in one day. And nobody expects that. You can play with a few points too, just two or three models, so you can experience the game even for a few quids. I know its pricey, but hey. Its a hobby, that is what they are for. If you need some bits or parts or maybe even models, as in your group around. I got a few devastators for free, since a guy had no purpose for them anymore. We are a community of players, so do not wait and ask away! There will be at least one helping hand in your group for sure!

I: I just dont want to.
S: Well, read the first post. Do everything and anything. You will come back to Warhammer, guaranteed. Just dont freaking force yourself dude. I have to say this all the time.

So stop lying to yourself, and think about this. There is no one doing nothing. Cope with it, do your thing, and stay beautiful.

If there is anything, hit me up with a message, and maybe i can help you a bit more.

Regarding painting, if you want your miniature to have the best possible outcome you can personally achieve there is one golden piece of advice:

If you notice you are starting to take shortcuts unconsciously (quickly going over a part on the other side of the model you spent more time on the other for example) just stop painting, and walk away. Continue the next day.

When you begin to tire of the painting it's easy to slip into a mode where you just hurry it up to get it finished. If however you want the best finish you can manage, stop when you notice this happens and continue later.

I plan to outsource my painting. I absolutely love cutting up plastic and modeling and am starting to experiment with Green Stuff for the first time this upcoming weekend...but I'll never learn how to do a good paint job. That's just alien to me.
