Played Ork boys horde versus Space Marines before Christmas. At the end of round 2 none of the Boys had reached melee, and had inflicted zero casualties, wounds or damage on the space marines. We had also lost half the boys and a vehicle.

We conceded at that point.

2 reasons it was so bad:
- we were playing teams on each side and when picking the army I knew there might be 2 or 3 players on our side, so I went MSU so we could split the forces evenly in either case. MSU boys is really bad it turns out as instead of removing casualties from the back of your 30 boys blob, the enemy deletes the front 10 boys leaving the next 10 boys with more ground to cover.

- I was getting the curry while the terrain was being set up. We deployed short table edges and there were lots of woods in the middle slowing down charges (and Orks don't gain much from cover anyway).

- The enemy brought twin assault cannon razorbacks. Against boys. And because we were charging up along the length of a narrow table they could both hit everything without even having to move.

<edit>- I can't count to 3. Or 4.

I think we learned from this...

Mark.

7th edition. After many a close battle with my CSMs against my mate's BAs, he buys a new army and shows up with Eldar wraithguard and jetbikes. I was 80% dead at the end of his turn 1. I took a few pot shots with the survivors to little effect, and he mopped me up on his turn 2. Didn't even get to use his jetbikes. Even he was shocked.

I got tabled, in my movement phase when going first.

It was grey Knights vs tau using the planet strike rules. I had to deploy everything from reserves. Only a 3rd of my army showed up and his entire gun line interceptered.

During 6th edition I brought 1500 points of Khorne Chaos Daemons against my friend's Tau gunline. Did not go as I have planned. :-)

A more recent beating was during the first match in our Planetary Invasion Campaign: I was the Defender with Orks, and my friend's Death Guard (with big ol' Mortarion) just steamrolled over me. I had pretty much nothing left after the second turn...

Land Raiders blew up most of my armies and the infantry inside the destroyed transports was largely killed by explosions.

The idea that Land Raiders were overcosted wasn't much comfort.

Back in... I think 6th edition? I had just played a game with my daemons against some blood angels. They were mopped up pretty bad, he had trash rolls and I rolled hot. It was a nasty game.
Another player was watching, and apparently started to make a list while we played. He tailored up a nice GK list and asked me for a game. I accepted and was in turn tabled by the tailored list. The previous opponent was still there, and the GK player, super smug said, "There, that should make up for your loss". I havent seen that GK player since then, and the BA player and I are friends. It was really weird, almost like the GK player was white knighting the BA player.

I think I was basically tabled turn 2, it was brutal, and took under an hour. When he put his list down I knew I was fethed and just went with the motion of the ocean.

Not a beat down but the most stinging loss was during a campaign my friends were running during 4th Ed. I was winning fairly easily, chaos vs Deathwing when my friend became very frustrated about the game. Feeling like he had conceded and was ready to walk, I proceeded to coach him the last two turns on what to target and how to win. When we finished, he announced he'd achieved his victory conditions (which I'd ignored at that stage) and even though he felt it was a cheap win, he'd take it! Arrgggh!

Got tabled the other day by Tau. Turn 4, but still. Ech.

The saving grace is that this is a Tau army specifically built to fight my type of list, and my list wasn't particularly well put together. Interesting game though.
