tactics to close the distance.

Like what, for example?

He's nids right? Should have some options for deepstriking genestealers and the like. Don't they have a spore pod or a burrowing creature to get them in close? Plus he's got that swarmlord ability and I think they get a oyschic power to allow a unit to move further too. It doesn't sound like he's playing in a very tough meta if they're mostly melee so screens shouldn't be too bad. Otherwise he'll either need to pop the screen with another unit and drop them turn 2-3 or accept he needs some sort of shooting.

Not a nid expert clearly but I've bought them enough to know they have ways to close that distance with frightening regularity.

I probably don't know enough about Nids to comment but the spore pod sounds like the best option for DS as it would mean the Aggressors couldn't Auspex Scan the unit within. I'd say either that, or run units with a threat range greater than 18" (either by shooting or by being able to reliably move / advance and then charge 19")

Genestealers can drop in around a deep striking Trygon outside their maximum range and easily make the charge... however if you bubble wrap the Agressors that will easily destroy the genestealers the next turn.

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

Scariest thing about genestealers is that they can deep strike 20 inches away, get buffs 5 invulnerable and feel no pain, the swarmlord can make them move in their shooting phase after all the carnifexes wiped out you chaff and with some hive fleet trait they can double their advance move and charge in the same turn.
It really hard to make an effective screen against them, if they get to your backline they ll just fight two time for 3cp and wipe everything out or lock in cc
And by the time you manage to deal with them all other monster will close in and finish you off.

It’s going to be hard to get carnifexen in range. If they are shooting with devourers Marines get 2+ save in cover.

Why bother?
If I am the Nidz player and know fighting Marines. I'd just take a Battalion of Kraken consisting tons of Genestealers and some supporting guys to allow one of them DS, Flyrant, and a Swarmlord protected by 1-2 Tyrant Guard to give those little bugs move twice. And a second whatever Detachment of Kronos consisting either Exocrine, or lots of Hive Guards or Biovores, leading by a Malanthrope. So Anything that can threaten the charging Genestealers like the Aggressors will be shot to pieces by the guns from Kronos bugs or being destroyed by mortal wound spam in the 1st turn. Then Genestealer can charge in and kill everything 1st turn or 2nd turn with much less resistence. Easy Win.
