Well that's sad for everyone involved but I can't say I'm shocked.

Terminator is one of my favourite films of all time but, like with a lot of Hollywood IP's, has been handled ineptly. I think 'Genisys' is a pretty toxic label - and not only due to the way it's spelt. I don't think Terminator as a franchise lends itself to gaming very well in general and to me the miniatures looked pretty average. Let's face it - who wants to play/paint up a Jai Courtney Kyle Reese? I'm afraid the franchise is pretty much dead.

Even as a miniature wargame I don't think it's very compelling. You have the Resistance vs. Terminators/Skynet and that's it, there's not a whole lot of room for expansion and without the resources to manufacture bigger more compelling kits you just have Resistance Soldiers vs. Terminators. I could maybe see it work best in 10 or 15mm as you could get all the vehicles with a lot less overhead but I still feel the franchise doesn't have enough living tissue or bad breath to sustain a full miniatures game or even a board game you'd play more than once.

I wish someone would do decent 54-75mm resin sculpts/busts for painters though.

I would have backed for just the miniatures if they weren't in Warlord's inexplicable "small enough to scale with the historical minis of 30 years ago" scale.

I'm not sure what you mean. Warlord stuff goes between "Heroic" scale 28mm (i.e. Bolt Action infantry) to fairly average proportioned 28mm. They're not as small as the Perry stuff, or as small as 25mm. Rather the majority of the products I've seen from them fit in with what the rest of the market's selling right now. Their modern and sci-fi ranges are the same scale, if not larger than say Empress or Spectre Miniatures.

With this do you think they only had the rights to a game based on that specific movie, thus the naming? Otherwise they should have dropped the movie name and gone for a generic setting in the post-apocalyptic Terminator world (which would have allowed them to expand a bit too, though they already did that with the human units). Perhaps when the new movie comes out we'll see another range, though if the series is only being licensed on a per movie basis that's going to hurt any products.

It's not actually Warlord, though they're doing much of the distribution. It's River Horse, which as Alessio Cavatore's company.
