I hope Space Wolves come out allright. I want to use my Knights of Gryphonne with gryph hounds (Fenrisian Wolves) and gryphs (Thunderwolf Cavalry) from AoS.

Between Alpha and Omega, and a little to the left

Considering their two previous releases included the thunder wolf cavalry in 5th and then the wolfen in 6th/7th, both of which being the strongest melee unit in their respective edition, history say Space Wolves will be fine (aka overpowered)

or it means space wolves are about due for a nerfening. sure space wolves where strong in 5th, but so where grey knights.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I played SW in 5th and 6th. SW never struck me as a CC army. What they are though is a flexible army. The GH is not a specialised unit. It is the jack off all trades. Well not long range. But from 24" to melee they can do something. This gives you flexabilaty after list creation. You can also trade inn your flex slot for your opponents weaknes. Against marines you can close inn anf melee. Against dedicated melee armies you can fall back and shoot.

Somr units are pure ranged and some pure melee.

I think a lot of what happens with space wolves rides on the CT they get. If it rides on them charging/being charged, they will be a CC army. If it's something about rapid fire, or pistols (like their stratagem or Death Guard) they will be mid range.

It's hard for me to imagine a CT that hasn't been done and would suit the way SW have been portrayed over the years. In pre-5th, they had some punch with true grit giving them a bonus attack, scouts were elite choices with unique deployment rules, and long fangs with missile launchers were everywhere. Then they got TWC and became CODEX: TWC
In 6th/7th, they kept playing the TWC game, but wulfen popped up, and then we got free drop pods and kept being a melee focused army.

After seeing how unique the deathwatch ruleset is, with choosing special ammo and whatnot for each unit, and mixed units being a thing again. I've got high hopes that SW will have more than just "+1 wound and re-roll hits if you rolled a 7+ to charge" or whatever bland CC traits might happen.
