That's kind of how being a Chaos Marine works. With the newer members they get from loyalists turning traitor there is no reason for them to lose any of their technology. So they do just forget.

No all the times, you can't just chop up everything as 'they forgot'. There are many reasons, their forgeworlds don't have the infrastructure, they don't have access to the same technology to create x or y, they have no access to STC designs.

No all the times, you can't just chop up everything as 'they forgot'. There are many reasons, their forgeworlds don't have the infrastructure, they don't have access to the same technology to create x or y, they have no access to STC designs.

Are you aware of humour? I don't literally mean they forgot the second they became Chaos Marines.

well keep in mind the gorge world stuff is how they forget, The dark mechanium does what they want and supplies stuff in exchange for gifted supplies slaves etc. It could well be the dark mechanium doesn;t have much intreast in creating a million types of bolt gun ammo. It could also be thaty they DO make speciality ammo, and it gets used but there just aren't rules for it (for example in 8th edition space marines don't have access to it eaither. we can all claim they forgot, or just accept that game balance sometimes means we don't get all our stuff, and GW has decided speciality ammo is gonna be a death watch thing) but it's certainly possiable that some tech simply isn't maintained anymore in the eye of terror.
