No ( as a Swissgerman i am stating nothing about germans, that is a whole other topic.) i am saying that the Idea of a German state and moral responsibility died in gunfire of authoritharian pricks, thanks prussia btw.
Everything afterwards is out of a swiss perspective, illegitimate authoritharianism, since we actually managed (after 30 years and a civil war which is better described as a brawl) to get a democratic responsible government up to and including now, then again the faction that won in Switzerland is called the "radicals" for a reason.

1848 or Vormärz, the first democratic elected government attempts to unify a germany (and also debate who should be in a germany in the first place) under a constitutional monarchy with parlamentary oversight, is killed off by the prussians and their sockpuppets, consequently leveling the way for future authoritharinaism, Kulturkampf, reactionary and generally terrrible state that is willing to go over bodies for the higher ups. Which they prove 1856 later when they try to snag Switzerland even though since 1648 it is no part of the HRE or any other german "state".

Basically, everything you see afterwards, f.e. the humiliation of france 1871 or the attempt at seizing switzerland, (mind you since 1648 as a absolute nono in europe because no major player is allowed the central passes else it ends badly) is completly to be expected, in consequence, it was simply put an enabler for the powerhungry and non accountable emperors / kings of prussia to dream of great power status whilest throwing any and all attempts of reason out the window.
Consequently the army also got a lot more aristocratic, the elites (nobles) could get rich off the poor sods, Southern germans were surpressed in their culture and France get's a huge chip on the shoulder for the next 130+ years if you look at the reactions of them during the reunification.

Basically the power got shuffled to the head of the state, the head of the state got a strong case of delusions of grandeur (Willhelm II) bullies a bit the French around, for no good reason, bullies the brits around which get paranoia, The whole army get's a lot of questionably competent officers due to an neoabsolutist regime mainting it, well you can put in the rest.

Interesting view there. I had not heard this expressed before.
