Deathwatch is going to break this strategem in half. Kraken rounds to wound on 2+ with rerolling 1s for the right mission tactic. Add in the +1 wound if you really need more mortal wounds.

Deathwatch cannot use it.

Yeah and its more to use some of the Indominus Crusade stuff. RIght now, if you have a battalion of 2x Primaris LT and 3x Minimum Intercessor.., one 4 man squad with Master Crafted Stalker Rifles....

You first spend 1CP to become a Indominus Crusade Vet.
THen spend a second CP to become a Indominus Crusade Veteran Intercessor,
THen spend a 3rd CP to allow that squad to shoot the leader that strayed into sight and range, with 5 shots that hit on a 3+, that wound on maybe a 3+, that might generate a MW if you roll a 6 to wound.

Thats 3CP for a substandard unit...

The two strategems they described for Leman Russes don't sound amazing [moving less than 5" is easy, and why would I want my tanks to run people over? I've both already got a strat for that, and I generally try to be not going that way with the tanks], but 3CP to get a flat D3 tank commander and re-rolled overwatch sound nice enough. I have CP at least.

I'm looking forward to the artillery company. If it's good, or even mostly passable, I might need to look into filling my elite and fast attack slots for a Brigade + Battalion + ??? instead of Battalion + Battalion + Supreme Command

Mordian Tanks doctrine (+1 to hit on overwatch), Defensive gunners strat (overwatch hits on 5+) and this to reroll missed overwatch... that's a very risky proposition for a charging unit heading into a couple of Mordian Leman Russ' tanks. Effectively 4+ to hit, rerolling misses.

Now add that on top of a Mordian Malcador Defender. Charge me. Please. I dare you.

I doubt they can get the new keyword.

Overwatch plasma may not be a death sentence anymore, which is nice. I will still probably stick with classic las/bolt though.

Well on the bright side the majority of the space marine relics are largely useless so you will for sure have CP to spend on these new stratagems.

Christ, the Tornado of Ultramar is insane. Take a Captain. Give him a Chainsword. Upgrade the Chainsword to the Teeth of Terra. Upgrade him to Vitrix Guard. Let something charge him or something near him. Strike First, For Ultramar. Do 4+d3 attacks. Then do 4+d3 attacks. Then Honour Thy Chapter. Do 4+d3 attacks. Meanwhile Khârn is over in the corner pouting because you just showed him up.

It can actually be nastier back him up with vangaurd vets and they are hitting on 2+ with 4 chainsword attacks. For 1 CP.

It requires you to be Ultramarines.

I just want to include a large squad alongside Guilliman, the re-rolls to hit and to wound would make it fun.

Indomitus crusaders is a generic marine thing, not Ultramarine only.

This is correct.

First you pay for this one..

Then you pay for this one:
Veteran Intercessors 1CP
Space Marine Stratagem
Use this stratagem before the battle begins. Pick and Indomintus Crusader Intercessor squad and to be a Veteran Intercessors. This squad gains the VETERAN keyword for the direction of the battle. In addition add 1 to the Attacks and the leadership characteristic of the unit for the duration of the battle.

And then you get to pay for this one..

And if your feeling really frisky, combine it with this one:
Liberators 1CP
Space Marine Stratagem
Use this stratagem at the start of the fight phase. Pick an indomintus Crusade unit from your army. Until the start of your next turn each time you roll an unmodified hit roll of 6 for an attack made by a model in this unit, that attack inflicts 2 hits to the target instead of 1.

But it still doesn't work for Deathwatch.

Ah yeah I didn't catch the difference between Intercessor and Intercessor squad. Looks like Space Wolves can't use it either. Then yeah as a Tau player I would just ditch what few shots/mortal wounds go through onto drones and call it a day. Might even let it through to tempt you to waste another CP.

i doubt anyone will be happy(except SM), losing your support characters early in the game not really fun.
Can`t believe they are implementing such mechanic.

Also note it takes three CPs for the marines to do that and even then those snipers are not even all that great.

If someone wants to spend 200 points to do that, let them.

If the character is small enough you can hide him for a turn before shooting the sniper unit anyway. Snipers are great psychological weapons, at deployment you can force your opponent to either hide his characters (and so not having them where he wants) or take the risk getting shot. Trust me when I play my two Arquebuses people who know about them will want to hide and focus on them early on.

But I don't think it's busted to be able to snipe characters, you usually pay a hefty point cost for it, and in the case of SM their Sniper Rifles don't do gak if not rolling 6s. Character support spam is pretty annoying from some armies, I know when playing against Nurgle Daemons I'm targeting those dudes ASAP. Or Psykers.

Really happy about the Cybernetica Cohort, it opens MANY more possibilities than a Mars gunline and we haven't even see the relic yet. Punching Robots should be viable if combined with a slight points drop on the Fists. Can't wait to get my eyes on the Servitor Maniple.

You do realise that there already are several units with a similar rule in the game and they don't need to burn CP to use it?

And you generally never see them. When 8th edition came out, everyone thought snipers would rule, killing all of the Commissars. Didn't really happen as sniping is expensive.
