I normally rock two regular Lemans with Battle cannons, Lascannon hull and Heavy Bolter sponsons, and a Stubber up top. Then my command tank is usually Pask with a Vanquisher if I want to punish myself because its still my favorite Leman. Otherwise my command tank is a Demo with hull Heavy Bolter and Multi Melta sponsons.

It is not a bad idea to magnetize them as others have mentioned. I don't because I have over 20 Lemans since I used to run them as a tank company back in 4th ed. I have enough I can do what ever combos I want with just switching turrets around.

What do people think about Annihilators? 4 shots off the turret seems pretty strong.

They're ok. They're very expensive though, and you can't put them on Commanders which since Chapter Approved is a really big deal.

Personally I'd rather take other options, but they aren't terrible by any means.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Compare to Predator Annihilators:

Preds cost 180 now, and get 4 shots at BS 3+. That's an average of 2.67 hits for 67.5pts per hit.

Russ costs 182 including hull Lascannon for 5 shots at BS 4+. That's an average of 2.5 hits or 72.8pts per hit.

So output efficiency they are worse than predators. There are some other factors of course. Russes are T8, they can move up to half speed and still shoot the turret shots at 4+ to hit. But then Preds can easily get buffs from other units, which is more difficult for non-commander tanks (Tank Commanders lose some of their own power if they aren't using buffs on themselves).

Point is, they don't look that exciting.

You mean expensive points or $$ wise?

Yeah I agree the appeal has gone way down since the points drop for commanders in CA. I guess the main factor versus predators aside from the ones you mentioned would be being able to take orders? But I was under the impression predators are pretty good anyways.

Well, both kinds of expensive really! 18pts more than the Battlecannon. And with Demolishers going down in price that also makes Annihilators slightly less appealing.

Predators are seen as so so. Generally outclassed by Laserbacks. When people do take Preds they tend to prefer the Autocannon for the guaranteed 3 damage too.

If you want to make a fireball demolisher (because you like heavy flamers), is it still worth it to be a Tank Commander?

They are worth it as Tallarn, simply for the order. Being able to move a flamer unit a few more inches can be critical.

The reason I ask is I bought an Annihilator from Forgeworld about a week before CA, couldn't resist the gas mask gunner for my Steel Legion Army. Super bummed it can't be a commander or didn't get a points drop but I still plan to run it... I love the model and 5 lascannons has to be at least OK. I hope?

Oh for sure! 5 Lascannons is nothing to sniff at, and it's not terribly priced. It's just edged out by some others.

If you're running one, play to it's strengths. Keep your distance and target T8. It does a better job at this than other variants. Demolishers are stronger, but have much shorter range. Annihilator you can park on your backline and effectively use as artillery. Grinding advance just means it'll be harder for your enemy to hide from it!
