Watching the videos they did on the paint - obviously they aren’t spilling the beans it’s a company’s monetary success on the line after all, they mention how a lot of the paints that have the same application, ie base, contrast or shade, actually have to be chemically different to deal with the kinds of pigments used to make each colour, some contrasts use ink as pigment others don’t ect, so to give them all the same coverage and flow they were carefully tweaked - apparently they painted 10000 models testing out the new paints to get all the colours working. Personnally I can see you making a similar product at home - I’ve made quite a few home brew washes - but they are just not as good - really only worth it for fun or when doing huge terrain. Miniatures cost a lot and take hours of my time I’d rather use a good product than hash them up with substandard paint to save £10 here and there.
