No its about laughing at religion. It would only be ignorant if you fully understood the societal cuircumstances, and could judge clearly, and evidently you do not. You fail to question why people would be upset and if they may have been pressed into that position. You don't want to explore this fairly, only to laugh at others expense..

As to the banned topic you seem to want to rant at us about,

Also I explained my point coherently and comprehensively, even if you choose not to agree with it. So please refrain from calling it a 'rant'.
Second a religion ban is pointless if one can open a thread to laugh at religious people and then try to use forum rules to prevent anyone from defending their position against ridicule by offering explanation or mitigation for what might be happening.

all I can say is that you're continuing the threads purpose excellently. No one looking at the last couple years of SCOTUS precedent can with a straight face tell me Christians are at their wits end and not spark my laughter at their obvious ignorance of reality.

Then let me dispel your ignorance.

Other cases (to show the issue is not isolated)

Things are thankfully much better in the UK, but many Christians in America encounter increased hostility, intolerance and attack, often by underhands means. Now there are right and wrong ways to deal with this, but I have some sympathy for those who recoil at what at first appears to be yet another attack on their community. Please note that your claims of ignorant hysteria are heavily muted by the fact that once the webs were included and explanation given the opposition melted away. If only things were as simple as saying 'our cross is not intended to cause offense to anyone so leave us be'.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

This is about having a chuckle at a statue of a super hero with hands that could be interpreted as a different post to what he normally does. Next person to try and bring up perceived discrimination or whatever gets a week off from the OT. The ban has been in place, the expectations have been set, you should know better

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Nobody is having a chuckle at the statue itself, this is evident from the posts before I joined the thread.

Pick one:
a. Permit people to make a fair defense of those who are being mocked.
b. Lock the thread.

At this point I recommend option b.

C. Remove people who are trying to argue with a mod from the discussion. Make your choice and either post as the OP intended or continue to disregard my instructions. Final warning.

You don't get to just veto a thread because you don't like it

Ok, have it your way. I will post as the OP intended, which in your interpretation means, I will reserve all comment to the statue itself and wont step beyond that.
Is this restricted to just me or everyone?

Everyone complaining about perceived oppression, trying to drag a topic into an area that is against the rules and trying to veto a thread because they don't like it (because that's off topic posting).

That's the last word on it, post another complaint as opposed to PMIng it and you'll have time off from the OT for off topic posting because the people didn't come here to see you argue with me

It's also debatable that this hand sign ever meant "devil horns" to begin with.

The origin of that lays in Christian criticism of heavy metal in the 70s/80s (before the earliest death metal/satanic metal bands ever came to be), and the "satanic cults" hysteria of the same period where everything "the young people" enjoyed was part of a conspiracy to convert kids to satanism.

But hey, let's take a fairly amusing thread about knee jerk reactionism, and inject some knee jerk reactionism into it. That's not ironic.

The story among metal circles is that Ronnie James Dio was the first to do it on stage and started the trend. But while the fingers were in the same position, his hand was held parallel to the ground with the fingers pointing at the audience. He claims that it was a gesture he learned from his grandmother to ward off the 'evil eye'.

If I recall correctly, Largo made the same gesture to ward off Bond-inspired bad luck when they gambled against each other in Thunderball too.

And it's worth noting, the distance between the extended fingertips is very similar to the distance between your eyes... one could argue the original gesture was intended to stick a finger into the evil eyes...

Given that the 'devil horns' sign is nothing more than a old European gesture for warding off evil pointed up and most definitely NOT any sort of 'secret' Satanic sign.... no, we're laughing at ignorance, not religion. That the ignorant person in question is using religion to justify their ignorance does not make them any less ignorant.

In lieu of being permitted to defend my position I can only say:
Nice statue?
